Has anyone here used creatine either as a treatment or training supplement? Did it affect the T at all?

I've used it before as a training supplement pre-T and am going to have another go anyway, so unless people come back with negative feedback, I'll give it a go and let you know!

Creatine is actually a pretty good supplement. I remember reading a study that stated it improved cognitive abilities via raven's matrices.

You should be fine using creatine.

Never use Creatine to work out lol, all it does is pumps unwanted masses of water into your muscles from what I understand. Who knows what other problems you could end up with later on down the road. I've always known to stay away from that stuff, due to the fact that I like being somewhat skinny, as I feel a lot more maneuverable as a light weight when it comes to sports and that sort, but in terms of the health risks involved I'd love to hear otherwise.

Thanks guys. Well I took it for two days and went to the gym. T is quite loud now, but no more so than a normal spike. I also found that my ears started to feel a little sore like in the first month of my T. So it may not be related, but I'm not going to take any more. On the plus side I look pretty pumped.

I read from a forum that a guy who has loud T for 8 years decides to go back to the gym to train and use creatine as a supplement, and after a few weeks he found his T volume dropped to 50% of its former volume. He researched on it and found other people have reported improvement on T too. Another body builder, a big guy who has T but using a very low dosage of creatine (for his size), heard this story and decided to up the usage of creatine in the dosage the other guy using and reported that his T is lowered too. This result plus the study may be something of interest to T sufferers. The stuff is very inexpensive and is considered well studied for safety. Young guys with T may want to give it a try. Don't know if it is good or safe to older guys (like me LOL). My son-in-law is a body builder and he says he and his body building circle use the stuff regularly. So this is not some unknown exotic drink but a sport training supplement which may have positive effect on T. Amazon sells it and it is less than $10 for a large bottle. So if it works for T, it is at least affordable to use it. That is why, in the spirit of sharing useful information to alleviate T suffering, I want to share this news here.

It depends on the type of creatine and by that in wich form. Creatine monohydrate does what you are saying. That is becouse it binds a lot of water in the body due to it's low solubility in water. However there are other forms of creatine that don't bind water. There is also some people that don't have positive effects of creatine (s.k. non responders) however this is usually only to the monohydrate form.

I have used both creatine monohydrate and other forms. They had no effect at all on my T.

Creatine is a naturally occuring molecule that is produced in the liver and can be found in meat since it is generally is used a mean to store energy in the cells, primarly muscles (about 95% of all creatine in our bodies can be found in sceletal muscles). The name comes from the greek work for muscle (kreas).

It is accually used as an energy reserve in the cells and is usually stored in the muscles in the form of phosphocreatine wich is used to resupply the cell with ATP after it has been used up.

When a cell uses energy in f.i. a muscle contraction a bond to one of the phosphate groups in ATP (adenosine triphosphate, contains 3 phosphate groups) is broken wich results in ADP (adenosine diphosphate, contains 2 phosphate groups) and a free phosphate group + energy (around 34 joule per molecule). Creatine works by helping to revert ADP back to ATP by realising it's phosphate (reaction is catalized by an enzyme caled creatine kinase) which releases energy so that ADP can be reverted back to ATP by recreating the bond to the phosphate group. In other words it's not used as a direct energy source since ATP is the molecule of choice as a source of energy in our cells, but as a reserve that can be used to quickly restore levels of ATP in the cell.

Our cells usually resupply the levels of ATP by metabolizing sugar. However, that is a process that takes a lot longer.

Normally a cell in our body can store 2-5 mM of ATP which in a muscle contraction is used up in a matter of a few seconds. However creatine can be stored in the amounts of 25-30 mM per cell (around 5-10 times as much) and the energy levels can thus be restored quickly.

This is why when using creatine supplements you will notice that you can do a few more reps when working out and that the time of recovery after a work-out is shorter. So it will make it possible for you to work-out harder and more often wich will in turn result in higher strength/better preformance. It will not by a miracle make you stronger right away (apart from being able to do those couple of reps more at same weights that you used to work out with).

Another bonus is that even after a hard work-out you will seldom feel soreness or fatigue in your muscles in the same way as before.

I think the one guy who reported the 50% reduction in loudness said he took 5-6 grams per day. The big guy who said he is 210 lbs needs to up his dosage to 10 grams to see a reduction. But I must caution this big guy didn't come back to follow up on his subsequent result (and I don't know if one should use more than 5 grams per day), whereas the other guy using 5-6 grams have been using for 13 weeks and continue to show reduction. His latest report is that on a scale of 1-10 where his loudness for the last 8 years was between 5-8, now it is at .75 (less than 1 according to his own words). So perhaps it can help some people if not all people. Too bad I am past the golden age for body building. LOL.

As for the source of Creatine, it is said that those produced from Germany & USA are the best. You can get them from any large health store. But Amazon sells quite a few brands. Just google Creatine Monohydrate Amazon and you will see a few choices.

      "Abstract
To define the role of free radical formation and potential energy depletion in noise induced hearing loss (NIHL), we measured the effectiveness of tempol (free radical scavenger) and creatine (enhances cellular energy storage) alone and in combination to attenuate NIHL. Guinea pigs were divided into four treatment groups: controls, 3% creatine diet (2 weeks prior to noise exposure), tempol (3 mM in drinking water 2 weeks prior to exposure), and creatine plus tempol and exposed to 120 dB SPL one-octave band noise centered at 4 kHz for 5 h. The noise-only control group showed frequency-dependent auditory threshold shifts (measured by auditory brainstem response, ABR) of up to 73 dB (16 kHz) on day 1, and up to 50 dB (8 kHz) on day 10. Creatine-treated subjects had significantly smaller ABR threshold shifts on day 1 and on day 10. Tempol alone significantly reduced ABR threshold shifts on day 10 but not on day 1. ABR shifts after combination treatment were similar to those in the creatine group. Hair cell loss on day 10 was equally attenuated by creatine and tempol alone or in combination. Our results indicate that the maintenance of ATP levels is important in attenuating both temporary and permanent NIHL, while the scavenging of free radicals provides protection from permanent NIHL."

I have tested in the past and worked but sometime loose its efficiency.
Its a safe supplement. I suggest monohydrate form.
10 grams the first 4 days and then 5 grams every second-third day.
Boosts neuromuscular activities by converting ADP to ATP(energy coin).
Iam not getting it now because it holds water and already have more water from
      corticosteroids.

1MW, you must have pretty bad tinnitus if you're trying so much! I don't blame you though, if you have 11/10 tinnitus then anyone would be the same.

      Why do people take acetyl-l-carnitine?
People have tried to treat many health problems using ALC, including:

Alzheimer's disease. Several studies show improvements or slower declines in mental ability in people with Alzheimer's disease who took ALC.

High blood sugar. Research shows that people with prediabetes had some improvement in their blood sugar levels after taking ALC for 2 months.

Diabetes. Some research shows that ALC can help the body use insulin more efficiently.

Alcoholism . ALC may help improve mental abilities in people who are alcoholic.

Depression . Research found that ALC treatment reduced symptoms of depression in older people. It also improved dysthymia, a milder form of depression, about as well as a common medication.

Fragile X syndrome. This is a genetic problem. Several studies show that ALC may help improve certain behaviors in boys with fragile X, such as their social skills and hyperactivity.

Male infertility. Men taking ALC in some studies had better sperm movement.

Nerve problems. Research has linked ALC with less pain or less intense pain in people with nerve problems from these causes:

@Danny Boy I have tested more than 200 drugs and numerous sound tricks with my own software.
From 200 drugs only 10-15 worked and creatine is one of these.
I had so bad T that i had more than a month to sleep.

Do you think you can still trust your perceptions while you are on several different drugs/supplements? I know I couldn't and tbh, I think you are gnawing away the credibility of your judgement.

If you have tried 200 drugs after your T onset that would mean that you have been on one drug at most 1,6 weeks since your T onset. I'd like to talk to that doctor who prescribed all these drugs and kept doing it even after the first 100 ideas of the patient didn't work... :)

All I'm saying that you need to be a bit more critical with your views and anecdotal information. That's because all on this forum can't necessarily do it and you seem expressing things like they are facts.

And for muscle wise it does help out a bit it helps you get pumps and helps u gain some strength ... But never rely on supplements.. Its all about the foods u eat man.. Sucks tho i dropped already 10 pounds of muscle since january and it took me all last year to put those back on since the last H went away .. Great..

Like I said before, T is caused by many reasons. One thing may work for some but not others. Don't take creatine if you are diabetic (like me lol) as it can have negative effect on the kidney. But if you are young and have T and already with a desire to be more fit & muscular, creatine may help your body plus the unexpected effect of lowering your T. Take that as a bonus. :)

It's not a high dose at all. 20 grams/day during build-up (the first 4-5 days) and then a maintanence of 5 grams. It's a standard dose. It even says so on the label when you buy it. The reason of the relatively high dosage when using monohydrate is that our bodies can't take up much of it. The body can absorb a higher percentage of creatine when it's in other forms than monohydrate.

However when using creatine monohydrate you should not use it contiuesly. You should use it for arouond 6 weeks and then have rest period of 6-10 weeks off it and then start again. The reason is that the effect of creatine monohydrate can sortof wear of after a few weeks (for the muscles that is, for T I don't know) so you need to "rest" for a while before a new round.

New types of creatine wich are not monohydrate can be used without breaks.

European food organization says that is safe 3g daily in monohydrate form.
These doses are for those do training. If don't do training smaller doses needed.
Other forms like ethyl ester are very hard in taste to eat and from my experience not superior to monohydrate. Some trials also see no more benefit and suggest more a market trick than more benefit.
Best is to take in rounds to reduce side effects like inhibition of endogenous creatine synthesis.
