I Went to a Gig and Had a Good Time

Hi guys,

It´s been a long time since I haven´t come to this forum. Everything is fine with me. I still have T, nothing to worry about.

Last night I went to my first gig since my T onset. Because of my job, I am a journalist, I had to cover the Queens of the Stone Age and Linkin Park gigs in Rock in Rio Lisbon. I had a ball with QOTSA but did not enjoy LP, which is a band I despise.

I worn earplugs in both gigs and had some beers so my ears were ringing a bit louder afterwards. But I did not care. As others have said, T does not determine what I am going to do anymore.

So I just wanted to drop by to tell those who are doing badly that you can get better and get your life back. Yes, there is life after Tinnitus.

PS: Tonight I am going to go watch Arcade Fire and I am going to have a good time again.

Wow going to gigs for a job is sweet! QOTSA and LP must be pretty loud gigs, i notice LP lead singer likes to scream alot...LOL!

I'm pleased to hear your getting on with your life and having a good time, push T to the background where it belongs, good on you buddy!

Speaking of what, I saw them (arcade fire) in the primavera sound festival in barcelona. Great show. I went friday and saturday plugged and it wasn't too loud.

Hi Laura, how are you , me still hanging in there, we have a beautiful in Toronto Canada, I should be out with my hubby and daughter , but decided to stay home and feel sorry for myself..anyway still getting use to the T, did MRI and they found nothing in my ears..going back for another Mri for my head and neck..I do have dizzy and wobbley problems , hope I am all right ..all the best to you keep intouch..

Hey man. Fulltime musician here . I like your thread- I play gigs all the time (with musicians ear plugs 25 db NR) and sometimes it spikes my T but I'm absolutely doing everything I can to protect my ears without quitting music and I have to enjoy life .

 

My tinnitus is almost a year old and... I feel good.

 

Good there will be a time you will say great!

 

Hey Epin good to see your doing well man...It will be one year next month for me too and I am doing much better but its been a tough ride to get here.

 

I know what you mean my friend. We all have gone through tough times but there is calm after the storm I can guarantee that.

 

Epin any tips?

 

This week I intend to shoot a video talking about my experience and publish it in success stories.

But I ll give some tips of what has worked for me (I ve done TRT and CBT)

1. Acceptance.
2. Listen to the veterans // learn about the condition // Read many success stories until you believe it. try to find the right strategy that works for you (in my case CBT has been the best)
3. Strategy, Determination, Flexibility, and Insight.
4. Move on with life. Lots of fellows out there have T and they do not care. Why should you? T is as important in your life as you want it to be. I just do not care so its impact in my life and mood is null.

Yes, I have T but does not disable me at all. I do evth I used to do in pre T days. Screw it!

 

I really like nr.4. I think that there are people who got stuck in their T process just by reading of other sufferers and their anxiety. If you read to many anxiety stories that there are a lot of, your mind is beginning to think that you SHOULD have anxiety when you have T.

Hey @epin3m: My T was a year old last month (I got it in mid-May but didn't start reacting to it until early June). I feel good, too! High five to you, my tinnitus friend.

Like your tips. And CBT was great for me, too. That and meds (which now I have discontinued, except for as needed) to get me through the anxiety.
