Tinnitus Pro: Music Therapy iPhone App

just for your information, I recently purchased an app from Apple for my iPhone called Tinnitus Pro, cost about $10, the product is developed by PRO-Medical.

It allows you to set and preset "notched music" to your specific loudness at any particular time.

I've been using this product for about a month now, and seems to work better with headphones as opposed to ear buds, good quality ear phones!

I play songs that I know have a lot of high frequency sounds in them as my tinnitus sounds are in the 8500k range, on this product you can see where the music is being notched and what frequency is being withheld.

I don't know if it's working yet but for $10 it was worth a try. If it doesn't work in the months to come I still enjoy listening to my songs and masking tracks.

When you say you play songs that you know have a lot of hi freq sounds in them, does that mean gentle songs or classical music are ruled out? Do you use the app to identify the appropriate songs?

Do we provide all our own music, or are there already some incorporated music that comes with the app as well?

Amsterdam, Netherlands - The therapy is called Notched Music Therapy and exposes tinnitus patients to music that has been modified, or "notched," to contain no energy surrounding the individual tinnitus frequency. The app, Tinnitus Pro, enables users to easily find their personal tinnitus frequency. The app then automatically does the rest. Tinnitus Pro filters out one octave of audio exactly around the individual's tinnitus frequency. Users can listen to their own, favorite music on their iPhone, and over time will benefit from a significant reduction in the loudness of their tinnitus. Each week users are alerted to rate the loudness of their tinnitus, while the time spent listening to the "notched" music is measured; over time this shows the progress of the therapy.

Yes very easy to use, as for the music I use it's how I'm feeling on any particular day. Sometimes Bookes and Dunn, Beatles, Elton John, Queen....I also use Sound Healing when I've had a very stressful day at work, it's a 45 minute track that just out and out helps shut my body down, but remember to turn off your phone absolute quiet is recommened www.brainsync.com/sound healing this helps me. I have noticed that the Tinnitus pro works better with a good quality set of head phones as opposed to ear buds, you can actually hear what octave has been removed by playing in normal and using Tinnitus pro by using head phones. ( siennhiezer ) I hope this helps, once again I just put it out there, I don't endorse this product because I have only been using it for only a month but I don't think that it hurts.

Forgot to mention this, but I'm sure you know DON'T play the music louder than your sound, you must be able to hear both the music and your sound togetgher, apparently helps with the habutatiion process.

 

I got it and like to use with the extended version of waterfall 3hz sounds that I got on iTunes. Its an hour long track of waterfalls. Also want to note that the spectrum analyzer in the app isn't accurate. It makes it seem like its notching out the wrong frequency on the spectrum but when I tested with another spectrum analyzer It was notching out the right frequency it was saying it was in the read out. It was freaking me out that those two didn't match up at first.

 

Hey for 10$ US its worth a try, seems to work ok on my phone, only complaint that I have is that it eats my battery much more quickly that the music player on my iphone.

 

Is there a way to notch multiple frequencies with Tinnitus Pro? I bought it earlier but didn't find a way to do that. I have made three presets, but can only select one at a time.

Not that I know of, I also have about 5 presets also, you can really mess with your hearing by playing around with it, but I think for $10 it's a pretty good tool overall.

 

Just bought it this week. Hoping for the best, for all of us.

 

Anyone have any positive results with this ?

I was just advised by a doctor to try it. I am a bit unsure if now would be the best time because I also have hyperacusis and music in general sounds like shit to me and I can't play it at even a medium volume.

 

It's $20 (19.99 actually) not $10. Seems a tad pricey.

 

Hey did anybody have any success with this? Thinking of trying it, way cheaper than Tinnitracks lol
