How do you know he had committed suicide? According to some posts in that thread, he had many problems besides T (he had financial problems, and could not see his child), so even if he Had committed suicide, he might have done it even if he didn't have T.
Note, this forum has over 25,000 members. I've been reading this forum for a year and a half, and this is the first person that was reported dead in all of this time.
According to https://afsp.org/about-suicide/suicide-statistics/
"The annual age-adjusted suicide rate is 13.42 per 100,000 individuals."
So in one year, you would expect 3.355 people in 25,000 people to commit suicide (or 5 people in 1.5 years). So it is certainly not the case that suicide is more prevalent in this group (this forum) than in the general population.
According to https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm
"Death rate: 844.0 deaths per 100,000 population"
So of the 25,000 members, we would expect 211 people to die every year.
I don't knoe the guy but from what I see it seems tinnitus played a role in is suicide. It scares me a lot the fact that hearing damage leads people to killing themselves. Why can't we just accept hearing aids like we accept glasses fof our eyes? Losing hearing is part of life just like losing vision and we should all acknowledge that and try and find ways to treat the symptoms of h.loss
please just don't take your own lives. There are so many chronic diseases that have not been discussed yet. Life sucks, but it is what it is. Our weaknesses make us stronger.
