@AZeurotuner I am different from other H people. I go to the grocery store, I hold down a job, I hardly use ear protection. (Cont)

How can one get sound therapy if the number 1 thing used for it hurts you.

I have to protect on the the days where my H is a stabbing pain......I can't endure that kind of pain. it is either protect or avoid in that situation......on my good days I try to subject myself to more noise......but never very loud noises and never for too long......I listen to how my ears react and try to go with my gut instinct.

But I don't know why you are taking offensive to me telling my story. I am telling it because the reality is simply that some people never get better from their H no matter what they do......Most probably do......but SOME still don't......like Autumnly for example, who I know have tried very much to get better but still are stuck with quite bad H.

Unlike tinnitus, I see no hope of future treatments for hyperacusis. There's nothing for us. What could a H person possibly cling to.

@OnceUponaTime It's hard taking it one day at a time. I miss my friends. They keep asking when I'll be around again. It's been 4 1/2 months and I still don't feel any closer to getting to be with them again.

It's not the music. We don't play music. It's the electronic shopping carts. Whenever they are put in reverse, they make a sound that -aggravates- my H. There's only 4 in the store and outside of Xmas they don't get used much.

Hey Red, maybe you can have some of your friends over? It takes sometime for your ears to heal but they will. What helped me was putting a pack of ice behind my ear and under chin around the ear, to lower inflammation and Flexeril. Hope you feel better soon.

That’s why I struggle with cellphones still. But I’m okay listening to the tv now. It took a few months but I’m generally okay at a low volume. I can’t go outside though. And car vibrations are a bitch for me still.

Often other car sounds do bother me though. I think it's also important to have a car with a quiet, smooth engine. I lyft a lot (casual taxi service dunnobif you USA) and notice a big difference in comfort sometimes depending who I ride with.

Have you considered LLLT for your H? I'm researching this type of treatment right now. I hope you'll get better soon. I've noticed that I've had symptoms similar to TTTS and they have gradually got better to the point that I feel 90% normal.

Mostly I just want the ability to watch TV with volume on, listen to music and white noise, and voice chat with people without being in pain. These were my coping methods and now they are gone.

I am considering LLLT. However, I do not have a lot of money and my hours have been decreased after handing in my ADA form at work. There are no easy decisions in life.

I'm considering making my own laser, I'm researching the parts and it seems that I can do it under 100$. I'm running around local clinics and the only one that has 650 nm laser provides treatment for only 4 minutes at 5 mW. It seems to be useless at this dosage.

@katri Thanks. What I really need to do is get out of the rut I am in. I am just a shell of a person. I really should be in counseling and on ADs but I'm not.
