Ha I was thinking the same thing yesterday. For the first year I only had hissing and now I have this god awful high pitched squealing on top of that. If I cound just go back to the hissing it would be amazing, like hissing I can deal with.

I had the impression that going from ringing to hissing is an indication of recovery, but I keep switching between the two now.

lol no worries. I know that everyone is so different, every success story is pretty much not an indication of how one will recover.

I think what I've deduced is that somatic/drug induced T seems to be easier to recover from and the more you recover in the initial period (days and weeks), the more likely it is to go completely. It is possible for it to go completely in years, but the likelihood drops as time rolls on.

I also have realised how important it is for me to stay at work. Some people haven't been able to - I think if I didn't have my job, I'd just sit at home and spend EVEN MORE time on TT.

Oh yes me too, I can totally understand why some people can't work but I think if I stayed home I'd be looking for a low tree branch to neck myself on. Distraction is vital for me.

I understand, too. I know some are trying to get on disability. To be honest, the disability money isn't enough for me, I need a stable salary.

I live in Australia where disability is quite a substantial weekly amount however unless you are ex military I think your chances of getting it for tinnitus are slim.

Yeah, I think it's very tough here. I would rather have a menial security or night porter job than have to deal with all the paperwork.
