An ENT at a learning /experimental hospital. They are always doing trails and trying new things there.

Hey, @Johnny Karate. Just checking in. Tinnitus still under control? Tolerating the Naltrexone? My first (medicare covered) Dr I saw would not prescribe Naltrexone at all, and an appointment with a referral specialist is far away, so I just signed up for an appt with an online MD.

6 days away. To help me with my alcohol dependency. I hope this one works, because it is actually costing me. Tell me some good news, if you have any, because I need it. Hope you're doing well.

By the way, I just want to add one thing. Thanks for doing the research and using yourself as a test subject. That takes courage. If Naltrexone works for me I owe you one. I've been dealing with this crap for a loooong time and it has never been as bad as it is now.

Thank you for the encouragement as well. I was doing great until I got COVID 2 weeks ago. My tinnitus went back up to very loud. I started the Naltrexone back 2 days ago and my tinnitus has lowered back down again. Further proof for me that in my case the meds work. I hope they did for you as well.

Your post today has given me hope. I have severe tinnitus and hyperacusis. I've had it since the 90s, and it has gradually gotten worse. This year it has gotten to the point where I cannot listen to music anymore (even at low levels). I'm trying to get back on insurance so I can try to get on naltrexone. Thank you for sharing your experience. I've been pretty desperate lately.

Hottopic29 The cause was ototoxic drugs. I had terrible loudness hypercausis especially at the beginning where loud noises was like a pencil shoved into my ear. It eventually went away but I think that the large doses of taurine and NAC I was taking at the time definitely helped to modulate it. It has returned in the past when my tinnitus has worsened to some degree but it never lasted more than a couple of weeks.

    Tinnitus Since:
    12/2018
    Cause of Tinnitus:
Zoloft, Viagra, Naproxen, loud noises for years
I have chronic loud tinnitus. I want to help people if I can get through the hard days even though I still have my fair share. I experiment on myself from time to time with supplements and drugs to try and find some relief. Have tried mega dosing 22 grams of taurine a day, steroids, supplements, testosterone, O.M.A.D. mixed with 48 hour fasting for a year, daily Cialis both 2.5 and 5mg doses for months, ASMR at night, Cyclobenzaprine, alcohol and other substances. I am currently running a two month 50 mg course of Naltrexone in order to evaluate it's effect on my Tinnitus. To give up the search is to give up hope. ...NALTREXONE WORKED!
