If your plane was made by Airbus, then there is no need to worry. Boeing planes are much louder. However, I've been on many Boeing planes and ended up being ok. You will want to have a seat away from the windows and as close to the front of the plane as possible (those seats are quieter).

I wear Bose noise cancelling headphones over earplugs. Noise cancelling headphones work amazingly well in airplanes, but they can cause T, so the earplugs are protecting me from the headphones. I also carry my Peltor X5A muffs with me. Some people are worried about wearing earplugs during landings. I (and at least one other person on this forum @Alue) had worn them many times and have never had any problems.

If you are worried about this, just wear Peltor muffs during landings. You will also want to make sure that you are not suffering from stuffy nose - so bring a good decongestant with you. Of the people who got T or got a T spike as a result of being in a plane, all (or the vast majority) had a stuffy nose.

By the way, I don't play any music through my headphones, I just turn on the noise cancelling and that's it.

@Bill Bauer what type of ear plugs do you recommend for day to day things? (Gym, restaurants, driving) I currently have Vibes 15db and worried it’s not enough. Also If I go to a bar at night I’m afraid that’s not enough.
