Really struggling today. I feel I’m on the verge of a nervous breakdown. It is soooooo loud and intrusive. Like a knife poking into my skull. Ultra high-pitched piercing tone.

The first 3 months after the onset are the worst. Keep reminding yourself that eventually you will feel better.

@Bill Bauer this is the scariest experience of my entire life. Never thought I’d have silence taken from me

@Bill Bauer thanks again for the encouragement. Took a walk with my husband and didn’t hear it too much. Now out back trying to meditate and hear it loud and clear. Ugh. Trying to calm the limbic system is a daily battle at this point. Everyone says it gets better down the road so I’m hanging on to that hope.

The first time I read about tinnitus, was several years before I got it. I was horrified that conditions like that are possible. I could imagine how that would feel, and I know that I would have trouble handling it, as I have always found noises to be more difficult to handle than other people.

When I first heard T, I knew exactly what it was, and I couldn't believe that this was happening to me. In the end, I can say that I basically lost two years of my life...

@Bill Bauer Similar to me. I developed mild, maskable T in my right ear 15 years ago and although it bothered me at night, I eventually got used to it. I read how other people say have T that is unmaskable and loud and was horrified.

I was thankful that mine wasn’t that bad and that allowed me to accept what I had and move forward. I vowed to protect my hearing to avoid that happening to me. Now against all odds, I have that exact loud, unmaskable hissing T (and a few other rings and tones) after a freak event of blast exposure and I’m living a nightmare. It’s surreal. It’s so loud and intrusive. I’m just surviving and not living right now. :(

    >so any change to a Lower tone is progress?

Most definitely. Lower-pitch tone is easier to ignore.
