I'm grasping at straws here, but if you can't tolerate prednisone, are you able to try naltrexone? Samantha R posted that low dose naltrexone helped her. Ask your doctor if he think it's suitable alternative. Otherwise, I'm so sorry about the constant spikes. I have random spikes too. It's horrendous.
Most of these spikes are temporary. It makes sense to wait at least a month before worrying about being stuck with that sound for the rest of your life. Right now you can assume that this spike will fade. One possibility is that it will Begin fading after about a month and you will be back to your baseline three months after the original trauma. Most likely it will take less time to fade.
Yes @Bill Bauer. I’m definitely wearing ear plugs when I go out now. Wish I had begun day 1, but can’t look back. @Thuan Sorry you also experience spikes. It is really tough not knowing what to expect day to day.
It’s hard to know what kind of damage is done to a person’s inner ear. It can be cumulative I was told. Part of it is related to the limbic system and sleep. Lack of sleep makes it worse I’m sure.
I’m even trying an old CPAP machine to see if that helps. I have a certain amount of sleep apnea. I need to have another sleep study done to get a new one. My Insurance pays for 70% of sleep study and new CPAP.
@CAgirl, I hope you are doing better! I noticed my noise went crazy when my jaw got off. If you have any kind of TMJ problem it can affect your ear canal I was told. I used my TMD appliance last night and I'm much better. This condition can have many origins.
