Anyone have earplugs recommendations for concerts? My sister has lots of gigs coming up so I want to get her a pair (she doesn't like foam) Jan 31, 2024

Got an urgent ENT referral from the doctor due to my deteriorating mental state. Friends, what tests do I need to avoid?

Never had an acoustic reflex test, but have read that it can worsen tinnitus. Hope things improve for you.

Sudden catastrophic change in tinnitus. Unbearable distortions/reactive sounds inside head. No apparent cause. Really, really upset

Reactive tinnitus has gone from a constant 2/10 to a 6/10 over the past week. Stupid haircuts. Quite worried

In fact my first experience with PT was while jogging. I remember slowing down and noticing this intense whooshing sound coming from my ears. That night I could feel my heartbeat in my ears while trying to sleep. Been the same since. Sucks

@Charburchar urgh a dirty KFC haha. You know I did the same thing last year. I hadn't had one in years, so I went a bought one - it tasted like shit. I'm sure it used to taste amazing!? I was very disappointed. P.S I also look 15 when I shave ;)

@Charburchar, good to know you're doing okay. I'm doing alright too. T is slightly elevated atm because it's "that time of the month" - luckily you don't have that issue with your T :p
As for sleeping routines, since I've started this new job, I've forced myself to wake up at 7:30am and to to bed at 11:00, even though I'm working at home till March.

And I don't actually have to start till 10:30. I thought it would be a good idea to get into a routine before I actually have to go into work. Hopefully, that way I won't struggle as much getting up. Anyway, have you moved into your folks place yet?

Earplugs advice - when I'm wearing my earplugs the sound of my footsteps are SO loud. Are there other plugs that don't have this effect?

If one has plugs custom-made, I know that one may get them shortened if one is a singer, so that one's own voice will not be too loudened. Maybe the same could be done to achieve the result you desire?

I totally understand. Last week my T was super quiet and I felt on top of the world! The past three days my T has decided to play up again and I can hear it outside if I stop and listen - so annoying. Of course this has made me feel like absolute shite. You're right about it being exhausting.

@Bill Bauer - I need a little one of you in my pocket, so when I'm feeling down I can pop you out and speak to you. My monthly trendy is T getting softer and my dominant tones have mainly dissappeared. @Charburchar, sorry I've hijacked your post. X

I've read all the classics like Lord of the Rings, Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies etc. Some cheesy sci-fi books like Slugs
Stuff by Irvine Welsh who wrote Trainspotting. Tbh I read whatever I fancy or see at the time. I've just finished reading Mythos, Heroes, and I'm about to start on Troy. And I'm also reading 'Modernism in Metro-Land.' So yeah, a really mixed bag.

Shame about reading giving you anxiety. :( but I understand why. If your H developed the last time you read, then it's bound to make you build a bad connection between the two. I have a similar thing about it being spring time. My T started in April last year, and when I think of it nearly being that time of year again, then that gives me major anxiety.

That sounds fascinating :O Coincidentally I was thinking about buying lord of the rings to get me started reading again (I've seen the films a thousand times - love em). Have you seen Trainspotting 2 btw?

I'm very similar - pretty much only read non-fiction over the past few years because I enjoy learning so much (also because of uni).

I'm sure we'll get over these anxieties soon enough :)

It's a bit different from architectural history but atm the National Trust are really struggling and they said last year that they were stopping the work placement programme I was on until summer of 2021 when they will look at restarting it.
So I jumped ship when I saw this job.

It's brilliant though. I work somewhere different week and get paid £1200 untaxed because it's a traineeship, but the pay goes up majorly once I'm qualified. :) tbh, as long as I'm working in the heritage sector, I don't mind too much what I do.
