Oh man... When was your last one? When this happens to me (and it will b/c of my medical history), I will push back. Hypothetically, what if I had a metal implant and could not have an MRI? There has to be an alternative for those individuals.
@tracyNYC my last one was in january 2019, pre tinnitus. my neuro wants one for some neurological issues I've been having for a while, but I dont think they're going to find anything new. he said we could see how my ears are doing in a month and then decide, but I don't want to dance with the devil/hyperacusis
I agree with @Taw that you should ask about a CT scan. They may need the dye (not sure if it's the same as for an MRI), but at least it's not five sledgehammers firing in your ears. Best of luck to you.
