Hopefully Ronaldo gets caught up in another tax scandal and has to skip town again; that'll throw everything into disarray!

That would definitely be grand @Damocles . I've actually heard some rumours that this is perhaps the reason why his agent is in talks with PSG. Can't you believe that Messi and C7 could end up playing together? I'd almost think that these two grab each other by the neck on a daily basis about who should be the captain of the team;)

Aren't you also a fan of some football club? And please, don't tell me you're a hardcore Millwall supporter:O these guys really have some spunk and are considered more tough than even the guys at my local club (and we are quite notorious for that in the Netherlands btw)

Indeed @Christiaan. It would be hilarious. That said, Id peg PSG to win the CL that season if it were to happen; reason being Messi is very focused only on results and doesn't have quite as much of an ego as Ronaldo. I reckon Messi would be happy to keep his head down and let Ronaldo feel he was calling the shots leading to a pretty unbeatable team.

Yes of course, I'm a Chelsea fan myself! The CL winners last season as you know! XD
Millwall as you say are something else, and pretty much a dying breed in England. Clubs like that just don't exist anymore.
Have you ever seen Green Street (Elijah Wood) or Football Factory (Danny Dyer)? These films perfectly document the old days of English football, when it was actually dangerous to hang around after a match.

Real football hooliganism has packed it's bags and relocated to other parts of Europe (Ukraine etc.). Not sure why English fans still get such a bad wrap!? :(

Yeah, the ego thing would be hard to tackle if that were the case. Messi seems a bit off lately. Until a year or two ago, he was quite good at handling defensive task as well as being an attacking playmaker. But on his current age, he seems to lack the energy to do both. I reckon that's going to be a weak spot for PSG this year

I never thought you were a Chelsea fan, lol. I actually forgot they won CL last year. I was kind of preoccupied with tinnitus back then;) Tell me Damocles, do you miss the good old days when Ken Bates was still chairman at the club? Must have been a complete culture shock to have a Russian oligarch at the helm.

Yeah, I watched both of them. Loved the West Ham references in GS, as I've often played WH on Fifa and have followed it since 1998;) Also have a weak spot for Blackburn Rovers btw.

It's unfortunately a story that still sticks to certain clubs, I suppose. It will take a club years and years of work and marketing efforts to clean up its brand.

For example, my club, ADO Den Haag, took rather extreme measures. They actually had to relocate to a new stadium in a completely different location, as to not draw the same kind of people who likes to throw stones and fireworks against opposing supporters and players. It took quite some time before they drew ''nicer'' peeps and sponsors who wanted to be associated with the club

Such a good question @Christiaan, unfortunately my answer will seem a bit stunted, as I wasn't much of a fan pre-Abramovich. My uncle used to take me to games regularly when I was in school, but I never had any idea what was going on... or even what offside was! XD

I didn't understand it all or start watching it properly until I was about 20, but I'll say this: Personally I'm not a fan of Abramovich; I dislike his glory hunter style of ownership, never sticking to 1 manager for more than 2 seasons. But my Chelsea hero is Lampard, and he says that when Abramovich turned up, EVERYTHING changed for the better and it made HIM better as a player.

So I'll take his word for it. That said, I'd like to see more involvement of fans in decisions, as was discussed after the dissolution of the "super" league.

That's so funny about your club @Christiaan, literally made me laugh out loud, thinking about all those hooligans trying to find their old stadium!! XD

They must be so confused with no stadiums to destroy or opposing team's fans to strangle!

Ah, alright. I think you're absolutely right about Abramovich. He may seem impatient, but at least he knows how to manage the club responsibly. That cannot not be said about clubs like Cardiff City & Manchester United, where rich owners throw a lot of money but don't have the right people in their circle to manage things on and off the pitch properly.

Lampard was certainly a great player! He really played better when Makalele, Damien Duff & Joe Cole were signed back in 2003. Those were the years! It's still bad though that Lampard was thrown to the lions as a manager. If he had an older, more experienced assistant, things might have looked differently for Chelsea and certainly for him too.

Isn't the Premier League trying to change the rules to increase supporters' influence in the way clubs are managed? I believe the German Bundesliga has a system in place where fans have at least 51% of the voting shares. It's one of the reasons why they have affordable tickets & chill standing places for hard core supporters.

Well, if you put it like that;) Yeah, they are still wondering around like zombies in search of their long lost football stadium XD. On the other hand, the ambiance in the stadium nowadays is more like you're watching a civil polo or field hockey game. It's only on the pitch where you can see some action;p
