I do the same thing (just in a more primitive fashion) by running an extension cable to my blender under the kitchen door. Then just leave the blender powered on until I've left the room, put my ear defenders on and can flip the switch.

@Brian P I'm fine as long as I drink the right amount to feed my addiction. Any more than that and I do get anxiety from it as well.

Electrolux ultra silence is a good and cheap vacuum!
On hardwood it sucks decent even on 30% power. I only muff because the mouth piece might slam the walls.

@Wrfortiscue have you ever worn foam plugs for too long and got an achy feeling in your ear canal by your jaw? Felt like that. It was a quick sensation then went away. Wondering if it was the sound or I tensed up somehow causing pain to radiate there.

No, I tried the zoloft with no success. I've tried cymbalta before tinnitus and the side effects were so severe I couldn't make it past the first day. I'm kind of wary to try it again.

@Wrfortiscue ultra high pitched EEEeeeEEEeee sort of thing. Just started out of the blue Sunday evening.

Right now it sounds like a bad serpentine belt on a car only higher pitched.

@kingsfan Nah mate, it's just been crap for 9 months with some severe reactivity. Getting spikes from moving the bed sheets. But it hasn't gotten even worse, so I guess that's good. ;)

Funny how it says that tinnitus and hyperacusis are contraindications. I found the test loud. And on my results paper, my lowest threshold is at 90dB, they went (needed to) up.

I got tested when I only had my on/off low hum, got other possible causes, but a week later my bilateral T started. It may have started earlier, but I could have been preoccupied with the low hum. I had never had high ringing before. Also, nothing of diagnostic value was shared with me about the ART. I wish I had never done it.

@Kriszti We are in the same boat then. My tinnitus was bad, but not too bad before the test. Wish I had never went. The test was all for nothing as well. I didn't know the results will show the decibel level. I may try and call for a copy of the results, though I'm not sure I could control my anger with them.

@aura my ears have been taking turns clogging up too. Maybe it is the weather or allergies or something. I also need to try replacing all of my down bedding with synthetic.

I don't know, man...i've been doing just fine all my life and suddenly i'm allergic to bed sheets...maybe it's the age. After you turn 40 you become allergic to life.

Less than the AR test but still quite a bit of clicking.
I personally had no issues with it, maybe a tiny spike.
Avoid AR like the plagues of egypt.

I refused the acoustic reflex, but I don't know why I went ahead with the acoustic emissions test. T has been spiked all day ever since. Didn't really seem loud at the time, but wasn't exactly soft.
