@Stacken77 @Steph1710 yesh thats what I mean, I turn the volume so I can hear it over muffs or plugs. If I take them
Off the sound isn’t overly loud but I guess bad for someone with noise induced T. Just don’t know if it’s harmful over time

@Wrfortiscue depends on how fast you drive;)
I would say a total volume in the car about max 85DB with muffs is far better than a kid screaming without muffs.
50 miles is around 65-67db. If you go faster remember music is jumpy and you’re inside a small enclosed space.

I think it’s safer to drive with muffs and some music on top, rather than drive without muffs and no music.. So if it contributes to motivate muffs I’d say enjoy some music if you can. Ear plugs never been my friend..

@GCS Taking care of ones ears and not exposing oneself to loud noises is not about being paranoid, it's plain common sense. You may not suffer any consequences now, but one day those 90 dBs could easily cause a permanent spike. I don't see how listening to loud music for a few minutes of fun could outweigh the detrimental risk of a permanent worsening. It's like asking for trouble in my opinion.

Most with severe tinnitus would take being deaf, some blind. Not sure anyone wants to be paralyzed lol.

I have many problems but the only thing worse than current tinnitus was my prostatitis flare up. Lasted 6 months and half of the time felt like I was getting kicked in the nuts. Night sweats, vomiting and nonstop pain… whew

I realised it after reading about it as well. The weird thing is, I now believe I've had it for a long time (or always) because I remember that at times I was seeing in the distance "a group of small insects" (or so I thought). And of course i never gave it too much thought... I can't tell if it got worse with T either.

My father never told me he had tinnitus till I got it. Then he told me he has had it for ten years at that time. Then when I was debilitated by mine he acted unsympathetic like it’s not a big deal. He doesn’t have noxacusis though. If only he would have told me I likely would have taken better care of my ears. All other medical problems I was aware of I kept an eye on developing.

And he told me he had high blood pressure, a silent heart attack etc. Why not the tinnitus? It honestly ruined our relationship and I haven’t talked to him in 2 years over resentment of him not telling me and then acting like I should just get over my problems.
