Just put a patch which helps with sore back. That shit burns like hell. Rather have T than burning pain from the patch 24/7.

Bloody hell! The ups and downs of tinnitus when you first get it haha. You will be absolutely fine. It’s all about staying strong. How I’ve coped over the past 3 years, is by making it a joke, and telling everyone I meet about it - whether they asked or not!

Anything that acts on Serotonin has the potential to elevate your tinnitus. Buuuuut... everyone is different, and there are countless people who do benefit from antidepressants without their tinnitus rising.

I'm looking into trying Buspar which isn't an antidepressant, but an anti-anxiety medication.

@kingsfan this is disheartening to hear. I have anxiety but i also have depression, taking care of my anxiety would help but I wish I could take care of the depression too. Plus my depression/anxiety is pre t so it has nothing to do with how well I habituate or handle t

I'm sorry @Shelbylynn . I didn't mean to discourage anyone. I'm merely advising anyone who contemplating taking anti-depressants to start very slow and gradually.

But as I wrote before, many people with tinnitus find help from Zoloft, Nortriptyline, Amitriptyline, etc. There are folks on the forum that take them without any issue.

        Stacken77
I'm completely convinced that you can be equally successful and productive. If you just don't worsen things further, and let habituation do it's thing in the months and years ahead. I graduated with a bachelors in Software Engineering while navigating this, and have since written many thousand lines of code. The tinnitus don't get to me emotionally anymore (unless it spikes) and do not impact my concentration at all

        Stacken77
My 2 cents though; what is the point of being "successful" in life? Why should we push and stress ourselves up the corporate ladders? I settle for simply being thankful for having a job, food on the table, loved ones around me, and roof over my head. Tinnitus, if anything, has taught me that. That's just my way of looking at it. Just relax and be kind to yourself.

Buddy @GCS, please, leave the event in the past and look ahead. We'll just be miserable if we dwell on it. I think you'd develop tinnitus sooner or later, it just happened to be that day. I don't think emotions is our culprit, we simply didn't know, and didn't care. We didn't know how easy it can be to cause tinnitus, and we had no idea how hard it can be to live with. Now we know, but it's too late.

But I've always been involved in loud stuff (playing in rock/metal bands, and my solo project is electronic music - dubstep, trap etc) so lots more surely have some ringing, but don't say it
