Hi @Athens was wondering did a low hestimine diet help? With the reactiveness

No, I do not think so, but I found the diet too difficult to maintain. I also tried a low carb/no refined sugar diet, and I lost a lot of weight but no real improvement of tinnitus or hyperacusis. My emotional response and quality of life have improved based on getting out and engaging with society (going out to eat, jogging, playing golf, etc.). I do wear earplugs if I know that I will be exposed to loud noise.

Thanks for the information I was wondering cause I been trying to target inflammatory foods as a contributor and I agree it seems to be living a quiet life is the only way of living a somewhat sustainable life thank you for your input

      Hello @Athens
My progress is slow but that’s ok as we can’t rush our recovery, and I keep away from negativity as it impacts on recovery psychologically….
We are all different and our journeys are unique….
And I pray, I find my faith helps and also walking everyday in nature, no plugs….
Reducing anxiety is the first thing to concentrate on before tinnitus and hyperacusis can heal….

Thank u @Eleanor89 I FINALLY get this as I’m working exclusively on my horrific anxiety that is crippling me at this point. My T has been low but the anxiety has continued to rage on.

Hello @Athens I also use in ear generators for st least 90 mins a day slowly building my usage up to four hours eventually… I’ve built my time using them very slowly by minutes per week….
I’ve had excellent support off the NHS and I get regular counselling….

My audiologist wants me to wear the sound generators for eight (8) to ten (10) hours a day. I discored last night that I might have them set too low and that a higher volume might benefit me.

      Hello @Athens
      Yes I do have hypercusis
      Getting better slowly…. I’m eight months in…
      Working from home….
Cutlery etc are much better, although I’m wearing filtered plugs whilst driving or going out, 10/17 decibels, but I am slowly starting to remove them and on a couple of occasions have forgotten to put them in….

Yes, on the days where my mood and anxiety are better, the hyperacusis is not as much of an issue (but still an issue). I think that if we can finally put pandemic behind us or at least get to a level where we are more confident with it, it might also be more calming to the central nervous system.

I am trying a low histimine diet but it is very difficult to maintain it during the first week. It has helped some people with similar auditory issues. Do you have hyperacusis?
