    If a specialist said that, they’re not a very good one. Hyperacusis is known to get significantly better or go away completely. It can take months or years to improve, though. Tinnitus is the more unpredictable one.

    Hyperacusis can improve a lot, you may not be like you were before tinnitus but if you take care of yourself you can get close or it completely go away

    @Hottopic29 I see those stories occasionally too about people who say H is chronic and doesn’t improve. I think that’s possible, but is rare. There are always exceptions. Maybe they mean that H is chronic in the sense of never going away completely. But it improves a lot. So for instance I’ve had h for 20 yrs but usually it’s mild- never goes away completely. Right now it’s severe tho.

    Think of all the people who have Hyperacusis and recover but don’t really post about it. And there’s people who dramatically recover and go back to being musicians and resuming a practical normal life.

    My H is caused by high frequency hearing loss after 8k thats where all my sounds are .. so certain noise like my dyson fan hurts my ears i cant even hear it on high anymore use to make a machine sound now its quiet lol

    Loudness. It has relapsed to severe 3 times in 20 yrs and returned to mild after sometime. Longest time was 1.5 yrs. @Hottopic29

    @Jared mine seems burning loudness is gone ...seems since acoustic reflex test so maybe it irritated the ears only been 2 weeks
