Audiologist recommended them for the best ear protection but also for maintenance of the ability to hear things while wearing them like conversation They have served me very well. I don’t really go to concerts. But this one was a rock concert. Horrible horrible I know. But as I said before, I had a plan for double ear protection. Didn’t work out.

Sorry. This seems to be quite common with people wearing ear protection and still getting into trouble. I read that the sound can penetrate the skull into the inner ear so ear plugs etc may not give you the protection you hope for.

Well then clearly I’m screwed. I talked about the potential for bone conduction hearing loss as I’ve heard that mostly happens with over the ear protectors. She agreed and said that the risk was very very low. But as soon as I could feel the drums reverberating through my body with those on I took them off. I guess the good news is I’m on steroids and hopefully that will help if I in fact suffered hearing loss.

Well not necessarily the case you are screwed. I will keep my fingers crossed for you to recover.

Just had a consult with an MD who is a T expert and sufferer. Well known on the site for those who were on 7 years ago. Does not think I suffered from bone conduction hearing loss given the circumstances. Particularly because a concert was so short. Putting me in touch with another T expert who is an audiologist, who also has T.
Didn’t promise it would improve but I also does not think was hearing loss related.

Dr Nagler? He's a TRT clown, doesn't know his ass from valid advice.

OK that does sound positive. It is often hard to know what the case is with any degree of confidence. A lot of us are trying to help but a lot of the time we are just passing on information we have picked up somewhere. Personally, I irrigated my own ears 6 months ago and have no idea if I screwed up or not with excessive pressure - and I probably never will know whether I am the cause of my own ongoing T.

Well that may be true in your opinion. But he’s a man who suffered from and studied tinnitus for over 40 years and is out living his life. He also has a medical degree. So far, I have met one person on the site who actually went to med school. And no audiologists. Just saying.

@Stuart-T, I am sorry to hear. It’s hard to know sometimes what happened and why. My husband has tinnitus. He never protects his ears. It also doesn’t bother him. I don’t get it. I would be happy if it were lower pitched. Easier to mask.
