Please stay away from Remeron. It has destroyed me.

Have you been on remeron/mirtazapine before? If so If it helps with anxiety and you don't mind the weight gain then maybe it'll be a good option for you on a low dose?.

I actually lost my depression weight while on Nortriptyline. I just kept track of calories.

@Strawberryblonde, I have never been on Remeron before. I took Zoloft from 2015 to about 2018. It really did help me manage the T I had at the time or my anxiety around it. put on 60 pounds with it and it was a heck of a nightmare to get off of. But also suspect that I was on it too long and they prescribe too high of a dose.

@kingsfan, No problems with your T on nortriptyline? I think of the tricyclics, amitriptyline and one other one I can’t remember the name of are the two biggest offenders of tinnitus exacerbation.

It made it a little worse, but I was able to handle it all better while on it. It went right back down a few weeks after discontinuation. I took it from May - Sep of last year. It had other side effects that I didn't like so I stopped taking it.

Amitriptyline was OK for me on a low dose 5-10mg then after my t got a new tone and i went into a full blown panic and couldnt sleep the Dr upped my dose to 25mg and I think it was the culprit for making my T louder after only 4 doses, not 100% sure as I was super neurotic with anxiety at that time too :(.

@Forever hopeful maybe try zoloft again on a lower dose and see how you get on with that?.

@Strawberryblonde. I’m considering but I was just reading some literature around tinnitus and SSRIs, particularly around the extra serotonin in the brain and how that can actually contribute to Tinnitus. I feel like we are damned if we do and we’re damned if we don’t.

Yeah it's a minefield when it comes to things like this unfortunately. Sometimes people benefit form ssris greatly, others it goes the opposite way.
