Ugh, I am signed up to do a electrocochleography test to identify my hidden hearing loss, but the noise levels they use - I need to see my doc and say I can't handle anything above 70dB. I just want to compare my bad left ear with my good right ear at a lower volume stimulus.
Why test anyway. Your tinnitus will not go away, but sure can give it a place by identify the problem. But really, be carefull with loud tones. Would not go above 50 or 60db. Because it right in the ear (right?) It can cause panic or stress reaction.
I'm going to recommend this to my ENT to not make the noises go above 60db. Just test my lower sensing between my ears. I care more about quiet ambience like wind blowing and hearing ocean waves instead of loud noises like traffic or talking. If they can't do this, it's a no go on Ecog.
