Apparently static is a good thing according to @Bill Bauer it's supposed to mean healing .

@Strawberryblonde i guess calling it a hiss is way too kind lol it’s so high pitch (above 12k hz) it can almost sound not pure tone, but it in fact is. It’s been with me since the beginning and has evolved into fluctuations but not gotten better.

I think I know what you mean sound wise lol T is so strange in how it behaves from one person to the next if its caused by the same dorsal cochlear thing.

@Strawberryblonde for me it’s exactly right in the ranges of where my hearing loss/damage was in right ear. Mainly between 12k hz - 16k hz. Can be constant, can crackle like someone changing radio dial, can shoot in and out of ears and head. Wish I could tell my brain YO WE DONT NEED THOSE HIGH FREQ ANYWAY SO SHUT UP!

My static sound seemed to go away when I took 2 Ibuprofen plus 2 Tylenol. I don’t know if it will work for you. It changed to a much more tolerable high pitched solid noise. Then I put my hearing aids in after it calmed down after an hour or 2. I hope you find relief.

I had an injection to my upper cervical on left that day. They said I had a pinched nerve. It was a cancellation so I got in early. I still had static when I got home. Long term it may help my situation though. They can only do one side at a time.

@Sammy0225 of all things, I don’t know why any of us suffer this condition. Most chronic conditions have more than one issue or actual physical inability to take on the business and hard demands of every day life. It is just crazy to me to sit here and say “reactive sounds in my ears are debilitating my life, if it wasn’t for this I’d be out at a happy hour and living my life normally”

@ErikaS, I woke up with static again so my advice didn’t last. I’m kind of bummed. I did use a Bi-Pap last night for sleep apnea. I had no static when I went to bed.

Absolutely! Ears take a lot of time to heal, it is a very sensible organ. There are a lot of cases of people whose high pitch Tinnitus improved a lot (my case!). I have had tinnitus 2017 but improved a lot after 1 year. Now I am back to due sinus rinse, lets go for a second round!

@Amv did yours get louder throughout the day span? Or was it one stable tone all day?

@Amv was your high pitch reactive? Do you know what caused you T to come on?

@Sammy0225 @ErikaS hey! my 2017 Tinnitus was due to noise trauma, it was very high at the begginning and then started loosing intensity and turned into a hiss, pretty habituated! Now i'm back due to sinus rinse which entered my ears, and it is very very reactive. But I am sure your T will improve over time!

@Amv So sorry it came back with reactivity with the nasal rinse, so unfortunate! Is it the hiss alone with reactivity or do you have other tones now?

@ErikaS yes, i have ETD also, and sinus rinse are not good for people with ETD, unfortunately I believed the wrong ENT :( Due to noise trauma, my t since 2017, it was at the beginning with some tones, then changed for a kind of morse hiss. Right now, due to ETD and sinus rinse I am having changing tones, they are settling a bit, i think the tendency will go to a hiss also, i will let you know!

@ErikaS I have read you have high frequency hearing loss, i am sure it will tend to a hiss, let me know and be patient! Ears need a lot of time to heal. You could try from time to time magnesium or NAC, melatonin can help also. But do your research before! And if you are at 3.5-10 it also may be better to be patient, and let the time make the healing!
