@foliefortuna For a while when I first got T I could do silent reading for a bit then switched to how you read.
Now my T is so loud I just can't melt into the book, no the cover noise now. I'm sure it's a mind over matter thing, since I used to read in super noisy environments all the time.
@Shera That is horrible, I am sorry. How loud is your T? I have read in super noisy environments too, I just got good at tuning everything out. I hope you can read again.
That's how I was I could tune out anything for my lovely books, and I think that's what saved me at the beginning of my T.
Looking at my results my low is 65db where it can be masked. When it spikes it's higher for car rides and such. It spikes after a shower too, but at least I can't hear it in there anymore.
65 decibels? What did the audiologist say when you got that measured? I want to get the volume of my T measured, I doubt it is any more than 40 decibels.
He told me that was pretty mild T. Though the paper graph he marked it on says "severe". *shrugs* I can't imagine what db levels the people going through there are measuring at. Especially since everyone preaches that "severe" T is rare.
Mild T, to me, is what I had before. Where any sound, and even just thinking could block out my T.
Maybe he told you it was mild because he did not want to freak you out? I think T that is 65 decibels is pretty rare since 65 decibels is about as loud as a voice.
I thought about that, and it just seems dumb of him. I did look at him and tell him you're telling my road noise level in the car is mild. It spikes in our diesel truck, which is 90 db. Really I wish I would have paid attention to the paper and pointed out it said severe. *shrugs*
I even told him this was low to what it had been (I could hear it everywhere and actually couldn't hear other sounds). He was the one who told me trying to mask it with hearing aids would be dangerous because of the volume level. It's just weird.
He was very knowledgeable and said I had made progress since my last check up.
