- Cause of Tinnitus:
- Distortion in one ear from head movement
Firstly, I've had tinnitus in my left ear since 1992, but the current problem is not that. It's in my right ear/right side of my head. This began with an explosion of sound the moment I woke up one morning 4 months ago. I don't think of it as tinnitus, as I can temporarily stop it by pressing for a few seconds (as if I was blocking my ear). It stops for around half a minute. For that period, my voice sounds less distorted and I hear more clearly. I had a hearing test last month which stated that there was no further hearing loss since a test last June. But there is - half of my head is full of hushing and roaring sounds which alter (become worse) if my head is lowered, raised, tilted to left or right. If I could self-diagnose, rather than wait interminably for an ENT appointment, I'd say there's inflammation there, though I hadn't had a cold or flu for a couple of years. A few days after it began, I had one session of cranial osteopathy, in case the guy felt that he could help by correcting any cranial misalignment. Maybe I ought to go back and describe things again.Interact
