You have hit upon a key aspect to coping with tinnitus. You don’t care about the fridge because you can leave the room and not have to listen to it. This feeling of control over the noise means that your brain doesn’t care about it. You care deeply about your tinnitus because you have no control meaning you do care. We have to relearn our reaction to it.
