I've learned that if you get hyperacusis with a spike it's more serious and you should treat it. Otherwise just wait for it to settle down.

For the most part it spikes due to drastic weather changes or random medication. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping when in rains outside.

Tinnitus for the most part is moderate. It spikes way too often for me to call it mild. I'm just enjoying life without worrying about it.

I've had numerous acoustic traumas and ototoxicity. Lost about 15-20 db in 8-16 kHz range over the years despite HBOT and steroid shots.

It's been more than 5 years. I'm still going strong. Life is good, apart from allergies. I wish everyone the best.

Almost a year in after huge spike (MRI). Tinnitus fluctuates randomly. It's mild to moderate now. I don't use earplugs anymore.

Exteremly quiet tinnitus this morning. Audible only in completely quiet rooms. A few days ago it was multitonal concert. Such a difference.

Surprisingly good fluctuations in tinnitus this week. Just woke up with mild ~18000 Hz hiss.

There's a high chance I'll have to do an 1-1.5 hour MRI pretty soon and it seems I don't really have another option.

Literal jet engine tinnitus today. Can be heard over trains, cars, voices, pretty much anything.

Since additional hearing loss I noticed more black floaters and they became more apparent. What's the connection there? No change in VS.

Unfortunately it's 4 time since tinnitus got worse since October. It got better a few times, but unfortunate circumstances bring it back. Currently even 1 or 2 hours seems too much.
Pulsatile tinnitus (somatic from neck) got worse too after recent chiro session. =\
I really hope MuteButton will work. I'm only 23 and I want to return to normal life to make my parents and relatives happy.

How's your tinnitus now? From 0 to 10?
        Did it fade with time?

Just got to the hospital. Dexamethasone IV + HBOT + some other stuff that I don't know yet. Thankfully it's covered by insurance

HBOT really helped me with my knee. I had chronic pain from sports injury and now it's gone. Unbelievable.
Now can walk for 3-5 km without any pain.

It is not very easy where I am, it's $130 per session and it's a 50 minute drive one way and they don't go to 2 atm either.

I have a spike after a jerk dropped metal parts on the floor in the hardware store. So I am not sure if it is worth it or not. Sadly Everything is a huge dilemma when it comes to T, all off label treatment options fall into the dangerous, difficult and expensive category

$130 per session? Oh my days. My sessions cost me £17.50 each. 2.0atm.

Yes, antidepressants, meditation, yoga... can be helpful to deal with the emotional perfect storm. Healing is a complicated matter with our condition. You will get better even if the noise will not. Time is the only medicine.

@PDodge I was prescribed Lexapro few years ago for panic attacks. Bought 2 packs and never ended up taking them. I was too afraid of brain fog and ED.
But I think it's time. I heard that some antidepressants might reduce head tinnitus, I think @glynis had a good experience with them.

I practiced mindfulness mediation before tinnitus. I think this is the main reason I can sleep now without any pills. I tapered off everything.

@dpdx I think I saw in one of your posts that you used headphones at pretty loud volume. I used them before too... Dirt bikes every summer... Constant noise exposure leads to cochlear synaptopathy. My tests don't show any damage to hair cells. I believe that in my case 80-90% of tinnitus comes from damage to nerve connections. It just can't be THAT loud from acoustic trauma.

@dpdx I spoke with few people who got tinnitus from concerts and had classic dips at 4-6 kHz and their tinnitus is 50% of mine...
New doctors think that I had ssnhl in my left ear and then just got worse from noise. I had a sharp drop at 8 kHz in left ear only. It's all fine now, but tinnitus is merciless.

I think that this temporary loss just triggered my brain to hear tinnitus and it's so bad, because my ear were constantly exposed to "safe" noise before... Dirt bikes are the worst offenders.
