Man you're still very early in just like me, if one's Tinnitus from SNHL can resolve, yours can and will too. Don't stress out.

@PortugalTheMan Scheerer's phenomenon is very common. Many, normal people experience it. I've experienced it numerous times before tinnitus. They're white blood cells passing through arteries that, given the right circumstances, becomes visible in the sight. Kinda weird nonetheless.

strange to have never noticed this phenomenon before, if it's something so normal... but I got scared because it was the first time I saw it.

It looks like you might have some mild VSS, it,'s normal 4 ppl with T, I have it too, hell even my sister sees it too and she doesnt have any of those

@Stacken77 @buttercake they do this because they say they can't see me crying anymore when I wake up because I have T. The psychiatrist said that if I reject the medication my family could admit me under a doctors' law. my family says I'm crazy because a doctor wouldn't prescribe a medication that causes T or worse.

@PortugalTheMan Almost unbelievable... Sorry, but to be honest, that doesn't sound very supportive of your family. I'm so sorry you go through such a hard time.

@Stacken77 I even showed this forum of many people reporting that they got worse with the drug and the answer was: "You believed in these people more than doctors who study for many years.". The psychiatrist said that I was obsessed with protecting my hearing so as not to make tinnitus worse and that this was a disease. because I said I wore hearing protection.

Very good observation, @PortugalTheMan. To me, it makes sense that the discrepancy you're referring to simply is a matter of predisposition in the brain; likely genetics. Those who have hearing loss but no tinnitus most likely aren't wired in the brain to develop it, while me, and 3 generations back on my mother's side is wired up to develop it. It may not explain ALL cases, but most, I think.

My littlebrother is 70% deaf in one ear with no tinnitus whatsoever, while me and my mom have tinnitus.

On that note.....A guy on a danish tinnitus page is going on and on about how tinnitus is caused by radiation from electronic devices, wifi and such. Please help me lecture this fool. Link to scientific studies that conclude that noise/hearing loss is cause of most tinnitus. For some reason I cant find them.

@Vassili I find it more interesting that this finding may be what differentiates a person with hearing loss with tinnitus from one without tinnitus. Do you think we should do a research post with this video?

@Stacken77 The high frequency and static sound I think is only masked by 60/70db sounds.

The ultimate joke would be if some scientist discovered completely by chance, maybe by an accident, that you can remove your tinnitus by standing on your head or something stupid like that. Or by eating marshmallows with mustard.

@Exit If they find a neuroma, I guess they'll treat it somehow? But my understanding is that neuroma being the culprit is highly unlikely.

I think they should be able to see an hint of a neuroma on a ct/pet..
They just don’t say it because it would mean doing mri afterwards., so the poor ct machine gets no action...

I've already done a CT and didn't charge anything. The doctor thinks it's important given my severe tinnitus and not having hearing loss.

Sedoxil is a very mild anxiolytic, but from what I can understand some of the tones I had was due to anxiety because I ran out of those tones after taking 1mg.
Today I took it again and I still have a slight wheezing.

@PortugalTheMan Yeah, in my experience, anxiety affects sleep massively, sometimes more than the T itself, so getting it under control would be a good start. When I was very anxious I took 10 mg Hydroxyzine before sleep. It's an antihistamine used for anxiety and should be one of the safer drugs, but we should be vigilant in case we see worsening in T or H.

I'm not completely sure, but it may have affected my T and H after taking it for 5 consecutive days. What helps in the long run though is of course habituation, but it takes time and is no quick fix.

Hey @PortugalTheMan, is it Citalopram you said the doctor prescribed you?

I've been taking Citalopram 10mg for almost 6 years.

It spiked my tinnitus for the first couple of days I took it, then it settled.

Never caused me any problems since.

There was a time not too long ago where nothing was hardly curable. Science moves fast these days. Doors are being opened as we speak. Google “top 10 medical breakthroughs last decade”
