Be careful. One noise trauma can throw habituation out the window and put you back at square one. I was habituated to mild tinnitus for many years, but then it got severe very suddenly.

@Thizzle no its the same as when it came, but type of sounds reduces dramatically. Now its 2-3 tones but bearable

Was the 80-90 dB the noise level in general, with the ear plugs reducing that? I have some major joint issues I know I should get one or more MRIs for, but I'm incredibly worried about the noise level having severe hyperacusis & reactive & winding up tinnitus!

@MadeleineHope i would highly suggest using an Open MRI machine, they have very low noise levels compared to the new closed ones.

and yes 90 was general with earplugs reducing that so it went smooth and painfree.

@ErikaS time is healer, my hyperacusis has been slowly improving, but very slowly, i’ve stopped wearing ear plugs near everydays sounds, but car horns still bug me so i stay away from busy streets or highways. No changes in tinnitus currently.

I took it for almost a year. I take it now when I take certain meds that are ototoxic. It protects your ears from further damage. Does nothing for the loudness of tinnitus.

@Lorca i was thinking about over ear headphone as they will block out external noise, then i can use them in lowest possible volume comfortably.

Maybe using some kind of filtered ear plugs under the headphones and still use them on a low setting if you really have to use them? It's a suggestion but not sure how we'll that would work. @Jackson Brady

@Jackson Brady medication unfortunately. for anxiety, I didn’t take it everyday just here and there when needed but it was enough to mess things up for me. It’s been challenging tbh

@Jackson Brady my Dad also has moderate hearing loss and his tinnitus is fleeting. It is minimal and is intermittent.

Same here my grandad is hard of hearing that the TV sound level he plays will hurt an average persons hearing. But still no tinnitus.

I used to be them (much of my life) so I know the disease T/H primarily originates in and around the ear, and the broken information processes in the brain. How I so wish I could turn the clock back. :(

@Sammy0225 how long do spikes last for you? and what was the longest time?

Hi Jackson! Longest one I had was 3 months it eventually died out after the 4th month. I do get daily spikes cause the reactiveness usually by the end of the day my ears are screaming for bed but they reset over night 8hrs of sleep

But if something like a broom or mop fall beside me it takes 5-7 days to calm back down

Was able to sleep a bit today, Thankful to God. Spike hasn’t gone down one bit but i’m coping a bit better.

Curious, how are you driving with sleep issues? I've been hesitant to drive because of this. I could probably do it, but haven't. Any special tips?

@Lilah nothing special, i am able to function a bit with less sleep

It's a shitty feeling when that rug gets pulled out from under you when you think your are improving slowly.

@Joe Cuber i cant figure out how ALA caused the spike. Maybe it crosses blood/brain barrier easily so it changed something in the brain

@Joe Cuber its the only thing that i changed after having a good two weeks with T. I took it for 3 days and on the next day i remember clearly my tinnitus spiked and has been the same ever since, its been about more than a week now.

@Joe Cuber one other thing might have happened, i was not thinking about my tinnitus much in December as i had exams, maybe that pushed me into some sort of habituation mode and i heard it less, when i started ALA i started gauging it again to measure changes and that’s when i heard it in horrendous level again, similar to what it was in Oct.

I dont have access to one, if u see one do let me know how it turns out, would love some help with this.

@Jackson Brady my actual mores code came on top of my hiss about 4 weeks ago, it comes on with more noise and beeps to the hiss. I’ve read a lot of mores code dies down overtime, let’s hope we fall in that category.

100%. I can vape at 2% which causes minimal spiking, but I was in the US in November where the vapes are all 5%. Gave me the the worst spike, which took a week to settle.

For MEM or Tinnitus?

I dont have MEM i think, it is helping with hyperacusis to some degree i suppose. Can’t say much because i’ll measure an actual improvement after i take it for atleast 3 months.

What was your cause and what helped besides time?

Don't go down the rabbit hole that are supplements. If there was something that really helped, we'd all be taking it. Best tip: eat clean, no junk food, maybe try intermittent fasting, and do lots of exercise. Keep yourself busy at whatever cost. Get a new hobby or something.

DO NOT LISTEN TO YOUR TINNITUS "IS IT BETTER OR WORSE NOW? HOW ABOUT NOW?" DON'T DO THAT

Yeah i'm thinking about doing the Back To Silence regimen.
But its really tough with low pitch sounds and hum sound. I can kinda ignore the high pitch zapping to some point.
