      HI Michael

I've placed an order for one of those TIEX machines. I appreciate it might not work for everyone but right now anything is worth a try. Thanks for the tip and hopefully Neromod will be with us sooner rather than later.

Michael Leigh, Hello and hope today is a good day for you. Am just going to post the link to the ENT I am going to go to here, as I can't do it PM.

Michael Leigh, Hello. Sorry to bother you. Hoping you are doing okay. Can you PM me, if it's not to much trouble. Wanted to get your thoughts on if the place I am going to is one that you speak about and would stay away from for cleaning or if it is okay to get a cleaning done here. I wanted to link to the place and that is why I didn't want to post it to an open thread.

      Hi @micheal Leigh

I'm thinking of getting a sound machine to help with my hyperacusis. You say that the S5000 is the best model, where can I get one exactly? At this point, I can just about deal with the T, but the hyperacusis is really getting to me, so would this particular model be a good investment?
      1. Contrast
        Contrast
any white noise machine helps with hyperacusis. It's all about increasing the audiotory brains tolerance level over a course of time.

Yes and no @Contrast Whilst a person can only buy what they can afford, it's also true we get what we pay for. Some sound machines are cheap and not very effective. It's best to go for an Oasis sound machine. The S-650 is much cheaper than the 5000 and just as effective but doesn't have luxury features.

@h-m-1994 hyperacusis is complex. Whilst using a sound machine will certainly help, it would be best if I know more background about your tinnitus. Please send me a PM message or write a post in the forum. That way I can advise you on treatment in more detail.

I recognise Fourplay.. And also greatly into Jazz music. But I have heard somewhere that Jazz music deepens the feeling you already have and Classical music like you've mentioned elevates the mood to a positive state. So I thought that trying Classical music is one way to stay calm and positive.

Classic FM - "Smooth classics" 4cd box set. Both available from Amazon.

Remeron is an antidepressant and should be reduced under the advice of your doctor. Benzos are powerful medications. You need to talk with your doctor and follow his or her advice. Sorry I am unable to help on this as you need professional medical advice.

Hi Michael, its been 10 months now since I developed Tinnitus, after ear syringing by gp practice nurse (yes, olive oil used prior), do you know of anyone, whos tinnitus settled down after this length of time, or am I stuck with it. P.s GP now suggests an MRI scan. Do you think any point, given the circumstances in which T developed.? Many thanks, Kevin
      1. Michael Leigh
        Michael Leigh
        Hi Kevin
Nothing is certain with tinnitus. Yours could settle down and you habituate and it no longer bothers you. I have known people that got tinnitus by syringing and they eventually habituated. Whether it completely went away I don't know. I think you should have an MRI . I advise you not to use headphones even at low volume. Read my article: Tinnitus, A Personal View, on my started theads.

Hello, I have a question about the sound machines you used.... I'm buying the Oasis s650 and there's not much information around the internet. so...
Earlier you mentioned that there are upgraded versions of s650. but is S650 still a fine product to use?
and is the white noise generated naturally within the machine?

Happy New Year to you Markku. 21 years ago when I first got tinnitus I was going through a very difficult time. I got a lot of help and support from a tinnitus forum similar to TT. It is my aim to try and give something back and help others as I was once helped. I can't believe 4 years has elapsed either since joining TT and must say it's been quite an experience on many fronts.

No two people experience tinnitus the same. The sounds that you hear are coming from your "Brain" not your ear. Many people think the sounds come from their ear and this is not the case. It can feel as it the sound is coming from outside your head, but again this is not the case. If you are new to tinnitus this is a common mistake. Try not to worry. Read my articles on my "started threads" and see specialist.

Headphone use caused the first noise trauma. 2nd time, I believe listening to my HI-FI one evening and turned the volume up. Next day tinnitus got louder and continued to get worse.
