    Tinnitus Onset After Sphenoidotomy Surgery

An extended hearing test is your decision, especially since your tinnitus is improving. Yes, I think the powered instruments caused the damage. Tinnitus onset can be delayed from the initiating event.

Struggling with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis: Why Are Audiologists So Misinformed?

Your statement about the CNS is obvious. You said in post #12 that "hyperacusis is considered more of a brain disorder than an ear disorder." I'm still waiting for your quotes from credible sources to back this. Many people on this forum have reported hyperacusis after exposure to loud...

Nausea and Balance Issues Triggered by High-Pitched Sounds After Club Exposure

Oh, you have no replies yet? I went to a noisy club about 30 years ago, and it really did a disaster to my hearing. There was other noise exposure as well, but not much was known about it back then, and there was no internet either. Nausea and balance issues are related to the eighth nerve, the...

    Tinnitus Onset After Sphenoidotomy Surgery

Thanks for your response. The ENT surgeon put me on Prednisone to help with inflammation and to see if that might get rid of the tinnitus. I’m on day two of the medication and noticing slight improvement. I do not have any tinnitus when I wake up in the morning, but it starts shortly after...

Struggling with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis: Why Are Audiologists So Misinformed?

I disagree. Please do not confuse otalgia with a stabbing pain triggered by sound. The ear has very strong compensatory mechanisms. The initial problem lies in the eardrum, which experts may say is functioning properly, but it actually is not.

NAC May Have Helped My Hearing Loss, Although It Definitely Gave Me High-Frequency Tinnitus

I have the exact same muffled hearing you described. It feels uncomfortable and makes me want to pop my ear all the time to release the pressure, but it does nothing. This used to happen only in my left ear, but after the toilet bang, it started in my right ear as well. And yes, the 5 dB...

New Onset of Constant Bilateral Pulsatile Tinnitus and Ongoing Diagnostic Workup

Hope you get answers. I’m in the same boat, waiting for my CT scan results. My GP was good once I finally found one who really listened, but he didn’t know much about tinnitus. Tinnitus from a Very Loud 3-Hour Concert

No, it’s not strange. Hearing tests done by audiologists who sell hearing aids do not record enough data points or cover a wide enough frequency range to give accurate information about your hearing loss. You need at least four data points per 1000 Hz, and you also need to extend the test to...

Struggling with Tinnitus and Hyperacusis: Why Are Audiologists So Misinformed?

Pain in the ear is probably an ear-related issue, but a lower activation threshold of the acoustic reflex is entirely a brain issue. The central nervous system controls every skeletal muscle in your body, including the tensor tympani and stapedius. This is well established.
