      Glorified Ford Mondeo dressed up as a Jaguar in an ill-fitting suit.

      These are nice looking cars. I always liked the look of this Jag series. I have heard though there are reliability issues and expensive parts. Maybe you can get a good deal on it.

      Yes, Jags are notoriously unreliable. The original poster said it was a 2004; I would be very careful about buying an 11 year old Jag. You better have a good mechanic.

      Probably sound, though never proven
      The X Type was developed while Ford owned Jaguar, and it uses a little too much from the Ford parts bin, thus many don't acknowledge it as a true Jaguar, which is a little unfair in some ways. The converse of that is it is probably more reliable than Jaguars have traditionally been, and its not altogether unattractive, even though the classic Jaguar style didn't really lend itself that well to a compact-car platform.
