So I have a brain tumor, doctor called me. He said it could be very well behind the tinnitus. It's in the brain and not in the ear canal. I havent had any other symptons.

My tinnitus unexplainably started in 2009. It was fairly mild and has got louder and louder over the years. I have got a bit of unexplaiable fatigue for years. 2 months ago I went again for an ENT and he finally agreed for a MRI scan. I am so scared right now.

The only way to know for sure if the brain tumor is causing the tinnitus would be to remove it/deal with it. I am very sorry you are going through this and I wish you the best. I hope you are able to cure your brain tumor and tinnitus.

Sorry about the brain tumor news. The good news is that you finally found a likely culprit. What does the doc say about the next steps?

Is this the first time you have had a MRI in the 9 years you've had tinnitus? I am having one in a couple of weeks. Not sure what will happen.

If the tumor could succesfully be removed, could it theoritecally be possible to reverse most tinnitus symptons? At the moment I am only afraid of death.

The doc said he doesnt know anything about it but the pics will quickly be sent to the neurosurgeons and they will call me as soon as possible. I think brain tumors will almost always be operated.

Absolutely. If I were you, I would hope the tumor is causing the symptoms, because if you get it fixed your tinnitus will most likely go away.

I hope that you can have it removed and there's no complications. Good luck with this fight you have to do.

Yes but it's not acoustic neuroma. It's sadly a tumor in the brain tissue.

Yes. When I was 14 I went to meet an ENT but he said there's nothing to do. But maybe the tumor is recent and not related to tinnitus. In that case this was a perfect timing to do the MRI before I got any symptons.

OK makes sense. Hang in there while this happens. We are here for you if you need to talk/vent/cry/whatever. I don't think there is much actionable for you in the meantime, except for things that help you with anxiety and mental state - so that could be something to explore.

All the best to you. Good luck.

Yes, it is possible but I am not a doctor so I do not know for sure. I have known people with brain tumors that had it removed and survived, it is not a death sentence. Stay strong and do not lose hope.

Thanks for the support. In some ways I feel eased as I knew there was something wrong with me and at least there is a possibility for a better life if the operation will be succesful and some of the tinnitus will reverse itself.

Try not to be too scared if you can. My close relative is successfully managing a benign brain tumour with meds. She has had it for some years and lives a film and happy life.

It is my understanding that most brain tumors don't metastasize. Sounds like yours is one of the slower growing ones.

Guys the T started at the same day I had Migraine for the first time of my life. There is usually no headache, only aura. I immediately complained about this to ENT but he said no MRI is needed. I get auras a few times a year. Do u think they both are connected to the tumor? I also have had an unexplainable stutter since I was 2. I think all those are neurological problems.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I know quite a few people who have had brain surgery successfully. Praying for you, that in the end this makes your life better.

The auras could definitely be from the tumor. I had auras and even partial blindness from my rose allergy before finding the source, so it could be something else as well.

It might be helpful to consult with a good naturopath or functional doctor who can help you get your body ready for pre and post op. To make sure your hormones are optimal and you're not deficient in any nutrients necessary for healing.

Please keep us updated. Try not to fear. Stress isn't good for you, and you can't control any of this. Hang in there! Stay positive!

You say you have a nose allergy, I currently have sinus/nose issues. What did you find as the source?

      Many thanks.

My auras were caused by my allergy to roses. Have you tried an elimination diet to rule out things like dairy or gluten? Sinus issues are often linked to dairy intolerance or allergies.

I will have to look into that. I keep asking the doctors for some kind of allergy test, but the docs near me seem to be living in the 16th century lol.

      Peace and love to you.

A neurologist (who has not yet seen the scan images) told me there is no way it is cancerous because my symptoms just don't match. A cancer in the cerebellum would cause very severe neurological symptoms with rapid onset time which obviously is not the case. He also said it should be causing my tinnitus.

You may have to take matters into your own hands and try an elimination diet on your own. The Autoimmune Paleo Protocol/Diet is a great elimination diet where you remove things from your diet for a time and slowly reintroduce, watching carefully for any adverse reactions. It takes work, but it will be worth it if it helps you feel better!

Peace and love to you as well! :)

Neurosurgeon called me. He said it most probably isn't related to tinnitus but it is possible as the hearing nerve is not too far away from the tumor. He also said the tumor is removable but a removal maybe isn't required as he quessed the tumor is very slowly growing.

Make sure you get a second opinion. My uneducated guess is that if it Is growing (no matter how slowly) it should be removed.

Is it benign or is it malignant?

I will get a second opinion of course, I will go to hospital on Tuesday. The photos can tell "it is almost surely benign". I will possibly have to do another MRI.

Are they going to be performing a biopsy? How big is it? My dad's tumor was the size of a golf ball (this was back in 1990)... It was an astrocytoma. Then, in 1995, he developed a glioblastoma... It is my understanding that they made a lot of progress in treating these diseases since that 1990s.
