When I read your posts Glynis and contemplate how much you have suffered and there are others here that have suffered unconscionably as well...much too many....I think of one of the great presidents on our side of the pond in the US who was a friend and ally of the great Churchill. Some, but many don't know the true story of our four time president FDR who was stricken with polio and couldn't walk a step past the age of 38 years old. He gave great inspirational speeches in a time when the world was burning... in 14 lb leg irons so he could stand erect while suffering intolerable neuropathic pain...the worse of all pain...like electricity coursing through a body. In solitude he suffered greatly. Publically he spoke of hopefulness of the human condition. He was a man of incalculable intelligence, great beauty....a very handsome man...he was a wonderful dancer when young and very athletic, he had the most beautiful debutants on this arm and his family had enormous wealth. Outwardly he had everything which he did until one day his health was stricken from him. Those that knew him when he was younger believed him to be quite arrogant. And why shouldn't he be? He had more than anybody could ever hope for until he was robbed of his health. Historians believe he would have never of become president without his suffering which gave him a deep empathy for those less fortunate which resonated with the American people.

I see the same dynamic here. Those that have suffered greatly and if there is an ironic component of tinnitus it maybe in totality, it makes each of us better in our suffering and self reflection. We develop greater insight by searching for answers that cannot be answered and moreover we have a deeper capacity for understanding other's pain.

You set the bar high Glynis. You are a lovely lady and those little kids you nurture with your wisdom and compassion are so fortunate to have you touch their lives.

I'm so happy for you. I feel sad you have to suffer from this devil. God, I don't know what I have to think about God. Anyway. I really happy for you.

Glynis, you are such an encourager! If you lived closer, I think we might spend time together.

Working with 200+ children! does that affect your hearing? I know I have had a room of 12-16 preschoolers. If they get excited and start squealing, oh ow my ears! I can go home and regular conversation hurts! You must have some great coping skills! I'm glad to be acquainted with you here!

For me, it's my grandchildren during a family gathering. That's nine children 8-years-old down to 2-years. Either we are in a small house or a big one without sound dampening carpet. It can be a bit much for my ears. I love my grandchildren! We keep trying to explain they need to be more quiet for grandma. I'm not that old either...
