      Hi folks,

I have just been prescribed Amitriptyline (10 mg) for sleep problems. I read on the box it's an antidepressant? Can it make tinnitus worse?

      Kind regards,
      Chimp

Five days into a 10 mg Amitriptyline script for sleep, first time ever taking it, my tinnitus started.

High-pitched stereo squeal. My doctor said it would go away if I stopped taking it, so I did, but have had tinnitus ever since (4.3 years now).

      STAY AWAY FROM AMITRIPTYLINE.

Given the numerous newer, less risky alternatives out there, this drug should be banned!
