The Dutch University of Delft is starting with a research group that is setting up research of electronics that can give healing pulses to the body to treat Parkinson's and also Tinnitus. I only have 1 pdf files but I'm searching for them.

First information starting at page 25. So there is objective measurement of tinnitus in stead of subjective measurement.

Professor De Ridder who is well known in Tinnitus Research gives a presentation too.
Bio electronics / electro physiology is what the research field is called.

      In Dutch, Professor Serdijn Said:

      Which translates to:

"As far as I have understood Tinnitus can be treated well if the source of it is in the hearing organ and is not long since the offset (less than a few years). Prof de Ridder (now in New Zealand) and his team are researching how they can cancel the structural changes in the hearing organ e.g. after loud noise trauma by the means of neuromodulation, and assisted by other forms of stimulation. In my opinion it doesn't matter if the tinnitus is high or low frequency. It could however be possible that the tinnitus has a different cause and thus is differently programmed in the brain and therefore less viable to treat. There is for example a relationship between loss of hearing and the submerge of tinnitus"

I just got a question now. Does it mean this treatment will be also for acute phases.

It's only for early phases of T. At least that's how I interpreted the following quote posted by Codaz:

"Tinnitus can be treated well if the source of it is in the hearing organ and is not long since the offset (less than a few years)"

I suggest everyone to either read the papers I posted and/or target your questions to the professor mentioned.
As I'm no MD only a Dutch reader who can translate what has been said.

To me it looks like an extension / further development of a neurostimulator in smaller electronics. How it works, if it works, if it works in non acute phases is totally unclear for me as the papers also target other types of diseases (like Parkinson's).

The field of electro stimulation for tinnitus is relatively new and especially the field of bio electronics. So I would not hope for a cure very soon. Interesting is that there is new interest from another field of expertise to heal the brain and develop the tools needed for that. That is good news but we are not there yet.

In the end Technical University of Delft started with it, we might need several years of research papers and tests to see if it comes to life in a larger research population.

Along with the other upcoming treatment I guess I need to wait till 2020. Unfortunately my T will be chronic by that time.

@Poyraz Cant you still try to get into the AM 101 trial? Your t is still early and isnt the qualification 3 to 6 months after onset?

Yes, I'm still acute phase and I just learned that they also run the trial in my city. But I don't know if I'm qualified for this since my T is still idiopathic.

Dirk de Ridder was/is head of 'hearing department' of the University Hospital Antwerp, where I am going. I might be able to ask if they know anything more of this kind of treatment?

@Sasja Can u ask if there are any more clinical trials involving electrical stimulation?

Hi, Google recently made a $715 Millions of dolars in a bioelectronic firm. That really can accelerate the process. I think is very important to mke this firm aware of the tinnitus situation. Perhaps in some years they can develop a treatment.
