I just bought a new blender. I had no idea they made these things so loud. It's like I was standing next to an alarm. My already loud T is now so loud I can barely hear anything else. I can't even begin to explain how loud this is or how poor my hearing is now. Idk what to do. Someone please tell me what you are supposed to do in a situation like this. I am sure no Dr will care.

Take a deep breath and relax, because you probably haven't done yourself any long term harm.

I have been known to wear earplugs when I make smoothies. So has my wife, who doesn't have T or H.

My guess is the spike will go down within the next few hours/days. Don't be afraid of using ear muffs around loud appliances. I used to have one pair in my garage for power tools, but I'm not afraid to use it with the blender.

Yep! Same here. I started at the gym yesterday after 5 weeks of being fearful of doing so. I got home, made a protein shake as per my pre T life, and when I turned on the Nutri Bullet, it sent my T through the roof. It settled down once I did.
Am about to head out to the gym again now. Will put plugs in from now on.
What I did last night was took a couple of melatonin tabs, went to bed and turned on the tv which I bought last week for putting me to sleep. Woke up, still ringing but OK.
Has your volume gone down now?

And that's smart, a blender noise is loud and not interesting at all... But you should use earmuffs : faster to adjust and more efficient.

If you really need to use blenders and can't stand the noise even with protection, I suggest you use these : https://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Wireless-Electrical-Household-Appliances/dp/B0087DAW46

Just go to another room and switch the blender on at a distance... ;)

Blenders are 'brutal' to my T. I always put in a pair of foam ear buds and that protects me from an increase in the damn 'hisssssssssing'. It will reduce over time so stay cool X

Thanks for all of your responses. I am better today. I m on Prednisone and took some extra last night. I think it helped. My main concern is my hearing, even though the tinnitus is wretched. What are these ear muffs everyone is talking about? Does anyone have a link to a good pair? I assume these are the ones I see crazy people walk around with. I guess I might as well throw myself in with the lot at this point.

Blenders ARE noisy! Who knew? I tell the young people working at smoothie stores that they should be wearing ear protection while at work. They always look at me like I'm crazy.

I measured my vacuum at 93db! And that's with a calibrated decibel meter. I wear earplugs and earmuffs with that.

Don't laugh, that's me in an airplane. I wear that exact model of earmuffs when I fly!

Lol well maybe they all just had tinnitus;)

I put the foam plugs in as soon as I realized it was loud but it was still loud even with them in and I don't even have H. I've never heard a blender this loud anywhere. So, should I use the foam plug and earmuffs? My ear plugs are 30db of protection. Will adding the earmuffs give me a combined protection of 52 db or does it not work like that?

I was told that it does not work like that, because of bone conduction their is a limit on how many DB's of protection can be achieved, no matter what is done with protecting the ears. I drive with ear plugs and gun muffs over them and I can still hear the chime alarm when the key is in the ignition. I have a hard time believing that but it's true. I can even still hear people talking. It must be getting in from bone conduction.

What is the limit? Why use both then?

Your plugs are 30dB if perfectly inserted, which is rarely the case. And 30dB is just the average protection, you have to look at each frequency.

Earmuffs are more consistant : you just put them on and you know you get the full protection.

Mine was built in 1992 or 1994. What might it not have that the newer houses ought to have?
