      Tinnitus Since:
      January
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      A sudden, sharp noise
Yesterday I was putting bottles in the recycling bin. One bottle hit another bottle and created and intensely sharp sound. Suddenly my right ear rang loudly and hearing in that ear became quite diminished. The initial ringing has subsided. Hearing has improved somewhat, but when I speak the right ear buzzes loudly. It's been twenty hours since the incident.

I imagine other people have experienced this. Is it temporary? Is there anything I can do to improve the symptoms?

      Thank you.

      Acoustic Trauma
I have had similar experiences (although I haven't experienced the buzzing that you had described). It is most likely going to be temporary.

      Tinnitus Since:
      08/2004
      Cause of Tinnitus:
      Loud concert
When I used to work in a bar, emptying the bottles at the end of the night used to be a hellish job that would always result in this diminishing of hearing.

Returned eventually, but was always awful!
