With the onset of tinnitus I read that inflammation can be present. That leads me to suspect that tinnitus sufferers may be at higher risk of stroke. I’ve had a search for this and I’m finding some papers suggesting that previous research indicates that this is the case, but I can’t find those particular papers/research.

I’m in my 30s and wonder if anyone here has any insight into the relationship between tinnitus and stroke.

I ask as there is a family history of stroke. And as I’m younger I wonder, and worry slightly, that I may experience stoke at a younger age.

      Thanks.

From a totally non-medical point of view, I would think that anxiety caused by tinnitus could have an adverse affect on one's overall general health.

I agree with this. I didn't fully read the article but the secondary effects listed such as anxiety and sleepless nights seem like a much bigger issue. I don't see how tinnitus can directly affect the surrounding structure around the ear unless the process that led to tinnitus (damage through music/ medicine) might cause some underlying problem.
