Can't Do It Anymore

I'm so sorry I've tried so hard to be an uplifting and positive voice here despite my struggles but I can't do it anymore.

I lost more hearing on the 20th (even though I was wearing earplugs the entire time) and my tinnitus has increased a hundred fold. No masking because I can't even hear whispers anymore. I'm slowly going deaf and there's nothing I can do about it. My ears are so easily damaged it's insane and unbearable.

I know they say "don't focus on the horror stories". I am the horror story! My situation is everyone's worst nightmare! I'm living in hell and it just gets worse and worse no matter what I do or where I turn. I want to off myself so badly but I can't go to a hospital where they'll just shove me in a room all by myself except for check-ins by unfriendly and unfeeling nurses and doctors and force medications that can make it worse down my throat and then let me go three to seven days later un-helped and worse for wear.

No effective treatment, no effective cure. This is not a life. This is not a freaking life! If you would have told me five years ago when I first got my tinnitus that this is where I'd end up I would have offed myself. My heart is so broken I can feel it in pain in my chest. I would not wish this on the most evil person to ever live.

I have so many people who love me but at the end of the day, love can't heal this amount of pain. It just can't.

Why did this have to happen to me? I never did anyone any wrong and I never took crazy risks. I don't deserve this! I don't deserve this at all.

 

How is that physically possible? What's causing your hearing loss and worsening tinnitus? Have you had hearing tests? Can you take prednisone?

 

It's literally noise exposure. Anything damages my ears I have had hearing tests in the past; it's all due to hearing loss. I've taken prednisone, doesn't help with anything. I must have very faulty genes.

I hear you. Same for me. Same. Suicidal ideation is the new me. It sucks. Have you read about Frequency Therapeutics, the Neuromod device, even Dr. Minbo Shim. It would seem there's a little hope coming. I feel your pain, my heart goes out to you.
Please hang in there.... try everything available that you haven't tried to calm your nervous system down. Hang in there , you are important, you are loved ... I wish I could be more helpful... Wouldn't hearing aids damage the cochlea even more? If her hearing loss is caused even by the littlest of sounds, why would she want a machine in her ears that amplifies all incoming sound.

@derpytia Can you list all of the things you've tried for your tinnitus?

 

My tinnitus is extremely reactive. Hearing aids would only make my daily torture that much worse

My only hope (as much as I hate to admit it) is that Frequency Therapeutics or another company comes up with a hearing loss or tinnitus treatment or cure in the next year or so. Otherwise, I'm a dead woman.

Is this autoimmunity? If so, can you consider undertaking an autoimmune workup?

Does the prednisone make any difference?

Do you have access to HBOT ... stems ... laser???

 

I have tried:

• antidepressants
• supplements (so many supplements)
• benzos
• sound enrichment
• masking
• ignoring it
• avoiding noise (and look how well that turned out)
• earplugs
• earmuffs
• meditation
• CBT therapy
• talk therapy
• "counting my blessings"
• prednisone
• begging my doctor to try TMS (guess what answer I got)
• begging my doctor to try Neurontin (guess what answer I got)
• that stupid "reddit tinnitus cure"
• sleep reset
• deep breathing
• keeping busy

 

I've various tests done on me these past five years. No autoimmune disease.

Prednisone doesn't do anything but calm my chronic ETD inflammation down.

I live in rural California. We don't have access to anything here due to location or health care coverage/expenses. The United States (and the state of California) is NOT a place you want to get sick in.

 

Have you tried nicotinamide riboside?

 

I haven't tried that specific one but I've tried various vitamin B3 supplements.

 

COMPLETELY impossible unless you lose control yourself aware. It’s scary, I understand when your ears are so vulnerable. I do hope you hang in there, hugs to you xxx

 

Have you gotten your blood tested?
Definitely check for zinc levels, hypothyroid (tsh, ts3, and ts4) and vitamin d3.

Here's some more things you can consider trying:

(I've been around for a while and these are things that have helped a lot of people)

Fasting
Curcumin
Chelated Zinc
MuteButton (when it comes out)
Mullen Garlic Oil Ear Drops
Healthy Diet Stuff

It's not too late to continue experimenting.

 

Have had my blood tested many times. Everything looks normal on all charts every time.

My doctor literally thinks that I have a faulty gene somewhere (which comes at no surprise since I was born with a very obvious congenital defect in my eye) that just... makes my ears defective.

 

Hearing aids can be set by computer and only give you back the frequencies you have lost.... worth a try...

Hi @derpytia. I'm so sorry you are hurting this much. I hope when you do go out that you are using ear muffs. When I started protecting myself better when going out, my tinnitus improved after a few months. it really made a big difference in my base line and reactiveness.

I would also suggest trying nicotinamide riboside as I've hear good things about it but be careful on the dosage as I read somewhere it can cause kidney stones but the benefit maybe be greater then the risk of kidney stones.

Fasting may also be worthy to try as it promotes stem cell generation in your body.

Lastly, after reading your post, I would say make it your life mission to get Adipose stem cells some how, some way. I've read from multiple member here that its at the very least improved or eliminated the reactiveness in their tinnitus. Rent a Tesla, due to being electric and quiet, and get to the nearest clinic. Travel an hour or two each day if you need to take brakes and do it in segments. share any obstacles you may have so we can all put our heads together and help you figure out how to get the help you need.

 

@derpytia Sorry to hear about your hearing getting worse. Hopefully soon Frequency Therapeutics will fix us up. Hang in there. I know it's not easy when you have tried everything.

Can I ask what frequencies are you losing in your hearing?

 

I am also so sorry. I understand. And you are so right about the health care/insurance costs here in our State of California. Even here in a smaller city seeing a doctor takes a long time for very little time spent in the actual office with a doctor.

@Greg Sacramento has written about this often.

Hearing aids here will cost a person over three thousand dollars at the least and there is no return (usually).

Are you able to hear any sound or conversations?

So many wonderful people here on Tinnitus Talk have given you great advice. Do consider them and don't give up.
Try to calm down, hot baths with epsom salts, chamomille tea, magnesium.
There are different therapies that will soon be available for us. Please do not lose hope.

I got my last hearing aid at Costco, and it cost about $1,300 (for one). If I recall correctly they have a 6 month period to return them, which is longer than the period mandated by law (30 days, if I'm not mistaken - see https://www.nsaudiology.com/consumer-protection-laws-regulations-hearing-aid-purchases/ )

 

I am so sorry you are hurting so much. I too deal with depression and suicidal thoughts since I got my T. I know where you are and all I can do is offer a virtual hug!

 

I sincerely hope something comes along relatively soon that brings you relief and restoration of your life before this horrible fucking disease.

Come on dude, I've been at this for five freaking years! Of course I use ear muffs when I go out!!!

I barely eat enough as it is because of money issues. I don't think fasting is going to do many any damn bit of good. I already didn't eat anything yesterday and today because of how low I am.

There's no place in the United States that does anything with stem cells because its BANNED.

I realize you are trying to give me good advice out of the goodness of your heart but I've been a sufferer for five years and been on here for five years. Please please please use your brain and consider these things before you post.

 

What happened to you being the number one fan of Frequency Therapeutics? Not so confident now all of a sudden?

I have some excellent data bases on this and I can't find any genetic or congenital eye defect per hearing loss that would relate to you. I did mention once to you that we had a few enter our trauma ER from your area with environmental housing chemical exposure which registered highest in the world; where some developed tinnitus or had tinnitus increased. Some also had respiratory problems. The same this year for respiratory due to wildfires.

One and two years ago the ERs in Sac and the foothills were full with ETD patients. For several years before it was sinus problems. They were given toxic unfriendly drugs per tinnitus.

I'm really sorry to hear you're still struggling.

Do you have family members that are also deaf or have hearing issues? For some of us, it really does sound like there is a genetic predisposition (curse) to be more susceptible to noise damage.
