Go slow, apparently too much (going on Amazon reviews --people seem to be using this as a Mercury detox) too much can make people feel sick.

Is there a particular supplement/brand you are going to use?

Also, could you explain the process by which you hope it will work?

I am just getting a liquid extract from Whole Foods. Per the study posted, it may open some of the relevant potassium ion channels that for instance Dr. Thanos is working on. I doubt it would be selective or potent enough to have a massive effect but I'm seeing if I can get any effect.

Honestly, I'm not at all sure since it's supposed to help with Mercury detox. I can't imagine it could mobilize Mercury from fillings but then again, i couldn't say for sure.

Do the potassium channels need to be stimulated or reduced? I don't have that much idea. What do the potassium channels have to do with tinnitus?

Activated. Dr. Thanos Tzounopoulos' tread in the research section explains this approach. In general, this can be dangerous if the ion channels stimulated aren't selective enough, but I doubt Cilantro extract is potent enough to do anything like that. I'm not expecting a massive change but possibly some.

I'm considering ordering a bottle and give it a try. Maybe it helps a little.

Maybe *slightly* better tinnitus. So slight it's probably placebo honestly. I was only doing 1/2 the dose the bottle recommended to start. Plan on staying at this dose for a week to see what happens.

Maybe. I didn't do it that long. I stopped in favor of trying a peptide (bpc-157) which unfortunately made my VS a million times worse. To the point, it's difficult to read. I haven't gone back to the Cilantro extract.

So sorry to hear this. How many days did you use the peptide? Is it likely that the VS will go back to how it was?

Two doses and I hope so. It's very hard to have hearing and visual distortions. I have no family and no way to distract myself.

Sorry to hear that FGG. With only two doses it should revert back very soon. Let us know how you are doing.

Can I ask where you purchased the extract, what was your dose, and did you try it alongside Quercetin?

I purchased it from Whole Foods. I don't remember the dose other than I took a dropper full as directed from the bottle. I don't still have the bottle to look at the exact dosing.

      I haven't taken any Quercetin.

      That's ok. Thanks though.

I'm going to try the Quercetin with Cilantro together, based on this study (that you've probably read):

I haven't read that one. Report back if you try this. The change, if any, I had with cilantro extract was slight but maybe you'd get better results with Quercetin (which also has anti allergy effects reportedly).

      FYI:

I emailed Geoffrey Abbott (researcher) involved in this study, and he replied me today:

"I'm not permitted to recommend specific compounds as I'm a research scientist and not your physician. However I am currently working with someone who is convinced that the cilantro he eats is improving his seizures. He started eating several pounds of cilantro a week ... We discovered the compound in cilantro that does this (E2 dodecenal) but it is not currently available as a therapeutic. I am hoping to get something started on this, perhaps first with a case study and then a small clinical trial."

@DebInAustralia - great find with this research paper.

I wonder what the effective dose of quercetin would be. The supplements sold on Amazon mostly suggest 800 mg a day. The big question would be what dosage could provide the same effect as retigabine?

Based on reading the research paper, I’ve purchased some quercetin and have started today at the standard dose. But I will follow this discussion thread with interest to see what thoughts there may be on higher dosages and also combining with cilantro.

And I wonder how long it should take to see an effect. As I recall some people in the Retigabine/ Trobalt thread reported improvement almost immediately. So I wonder if there is a carry-over to quercetin, if the dose is high enough to match the effect of retigabine, would there be a similar almost immediate improvement?

Neither is going to have the same channel affinity as Retigabine. All ion channel binders probably have different channel specificity for one thing.

For this reason, I would go slow with anything like this (probably a good idea with any supplement really).
