I had my first flu since my tinnitus started and wow, did it fire up my tinnitus again. For about 2 days I even had some anxiety again (very mild) which I haven't had in almost a year.

Now, a week later, it's quieting down again. Hopefully it was just flu related.

      Anyone have similar experiences?

I had a flu as well and the tinnitus spiked. It's been now a week or so after the flu, but it hasn't gone down yet. Bummer.

Glad to hear you're feeling better now and your tinnitus has calmed down for you.

Colds and viruses can cause a spike in tinnitus adding to feeling off side till its run its course.

Roll on summer....lots of love glynis

Does having a cold influence tinnitus?

I have a blocked nose and ear but is it a coincidence tinnitus also feels worse?

Maybe feeling unwell makes it harder to manage? Or both?

I’m a tinnitus veteran but this is really tough stuff.

Just wanted to add that having a cold/flu, exhaustion, headache and similar temporary ailments all boost my tinnitus. That is actually why I am posting this message right now, as my tinnitus has merged forces with a cold-induced headache and is making it difficult for me to perform my work...

Absolutely. Many of my friends and family without chronic tinnitus have told me they get tinnitus during colds or if they have a sinus infection.

I’m not sure Glynis, I didn’t have one last year. I don’t want anything to make T worse.
I went to see a hearing therapist at the hospital last week and was able to report improvement. Now I’m back in the doldrums again.
You do seem to be given more than your fair share of ailments. Take great care x
