      Hey guys,

I've had mild hyperacusis and intermittent tinnitus for a few months, unfortunately being a little bit of a hypochondriac I find myself nervous around noise.

When an ambulance drove past I nearly jumped into a manhole!

Ok slight exaggeration, but they do leave me nervous as this is what caused me hyperacusis in the first place (A siren blasting off right next to me).

I was wondering does anyone know any tips or techniques to calm down when you are out and about?

Living in London I am constantly watching the roads for sirens after my accident - It's not healthy!

      Thanks,

      Tom

      Hi Tom,
Just remember when your out that you are in control and can walk away from sound that is troublesome.
Some sounds we carnt get away from that come out of the blue but should not cause and permanent damage other than a tempory spike.

Try not to fear sound as most sound is ok that is not blasting....lots of love glynis

      Thanks Glynis,

Great advice. Will try my best to chill out over this!

Probably something that will never be forgotten after getting something as nasty as H...at least on the good news front they do statistically get better!

I just started wearing musicians earplugs when leaving the house. I also live in an extremely noisy city so i figured the exposure is just not healthy. I do take them out in parks, quiet coffee bars etc.. so as to not overprotect when unnecessary.

Does the H seem to make the T louder to anybody?

Yes I was going to get these, they seem to be the best kind of protection, despite them being expensive.

Havent been to a club since I've gotten H... also with main streets I tend to go through the backstreets to get to certain shops, but I really want to get over this!

Only get this if I get a spike for whatever reason :)
