      Hey everyone,

As some might remember from my other thread I got exposed to a not-so-loud shot from an air rifle which later on turned out to be probably not having done any damage. But since I was pretty anxious about it I decided to go to my ENT and got a prescription for Prednisone (oral).

I took it for 4 days (60/40/40/20mg) and then decided to stop it.

So my last prednisone was 2 days go. Everything was ok. My tinnitus felt a bit louder but it was kinda ok. Today I woke up to a really mean and loud hissing tinnitus that really makes me go crazy.

Has anyone experienced this kind of spike AFTER stopping to take prednisone? If so, did it return to baseline? Or has anybody experienced a permanent increase by prednisone?

I am so lost right now because I fear I have worsened my tinnitus due to my own anxiety by taking prednisone that probably wasn’t even necessary

I had a horrible spike after stoping prednisone, without tapper off.
I was on it for a week then got sick with stomach virus and was too unwell to take prednisone.
      Horrible horrible spike I had.
But it went down. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
It will settle down. You were not on it too long and you reduced slowly.

Quick update to whoever might be interested:
T has been up and down for the last 4 days (i.e. since I stopped taking prednisone). First day was super bad, next day was a bit better in the morning but after a 3 hour flight it was again a bit worse in the evening. Day 3 was much better again (even forgot about it for a few hours). Today is a bit worse again but still better than day 1.
I‘m still hoping this is all just a spike because of prednisone and stress (and maybe the flight added a bit although I wore -37dB ear plugs plus noise cancelling headphones on top of that).
Upside to all this: i‘m on vacation in Portugal and it’s super nice here

Ototoxicity and probably cumulative noise exposure
My tinnitus got totally out of hand when I was taking Prednisone (no tapering + high dose), took a week to return to baseline.

How are you doing now? I took 1 dose of 60 MG prednisone and my T was noticeably louder 1 hour after taking it and has not gone back down. It’s been 24 hours, but I opted to not take any other doses because it freaked me out.. hoping your T has gone back to baseline. I was taking my prednisone for possible noise exposure but it’s not even worth it with the side effects and the increase in T! My T was lower after the noise exposure, before starting the prednisone!

Did your T ever go back down? I'm in the same boat - started taking Prednisone and mine has spiked. I'm scared to take any more doses right now
