      Hi,

      I've not exposed my ears to proper sound for a few months now.
      Today I've listened to some music on speakers for about 15 mins at about 50 dB according to sound meter, I have felt slight discomfort but no pain during listening.

      However, about 10 minutes afterwards I've gotten a headache on my right side, which is more sensitive, and then some burning ear pain which has lasted for an hour but is calming down now.

      Does anyone else experience the same reactions from their hyperacusis? Am I simply overdoing it because I was not exposed to sound for a long time?

      What so you mean by not getting proper sound? @Dij111

      My hyperacusis is 95% gone, but listening to music I notice I still feel slight discomfort around my noise, I wouldn't call it pain and no burning. I figure this has to be what ever is left of it. Hoping it goes away completely.

      It means I was wearing ear protection all day and night.

      That's why you had a spike. Stop doing that. If sound on things you can control is discomforting to you then lower the volume to a comforting level.

      Over protection makes hyperacusis worse it. In short, it starved the auditory system of sound. Therefore your auditory system ramps up everything to get itself some sound exposure.

      I know what you mean. I don't necessarily get pain anymore. But I still get discomfort. I think mines just loudness hyperacusis now and even then it's mild.

      I know, I was not thinking clearly at the time, I thought it may help my ears "recover" but I have already accepted the condition.

      I just want to know if anyone with H has been experiencing the pain in a delayed manner, as "in the moment" it feels fine but a few minutes later you feel the effects of pain/headache.

      I've never heard of headaches but I do know of people who experience lingering pain. Wait a while and see if it still continues. Its likely something that will pass.

      @Contrast, @Taylorslay

      You both mentioned you had pain before and it got better.

      I think the obvious question anyone with pain hyperacusis would have to ask is was this pain the delayed burning type? Or was it another type?
