      I have left sided tinnitus.

Last night, I was in a store, and a fire alarm started blasting. Left ear plugged, right not so much.

When I got home, accidentally dropped a toilet seat, very very loud.

I was terrified so I took 10mg Prednisone (tiny dose).

This AM I woke up and... Now I can't tell which ear has tinnitus! Sounds like both!

Did I just give myself bilateral tinnitus with that tiny bit of prednisone? What should I do? Help!

I don't think you gave yourself T from predinisone, it could have possibly been a delay. But take some nac and chelated magnesium and.... if you're wary, ask more people here on the prednisone, because prednisone is the first line of defense in treating noise injury and trauma.

Uncertain, now very somatic, started with noise?
      Very unlikely.

Fire alarms and a loud bang down of a toilet seat are something completely different.
Noise damage is always associated with the duration of the exposure. And the noise of a falling toilet seat is in the millisecond range. A fire alarm can be a problem because it can last for minutes!! larger than 100 dB.

So I had a massive acoustic trauma, and now my tinnitus, which was in one ear, is now starting in the other as well.

ENT "tinnitus specialist" has no advice.

Do I keep it totally plugged to prevent further injury and allow ear to adjust, or leave it unplugged?

      Thanks all.

I would keep mostly plugged for a day or two, or until it starts to feel better. But take the plugs out every two hours in a quieter environment, and use sound enrichment to avoid dead silence.
