Tried to keep busy today, it’s very cold in the UK. It just seems hard to believe that a head can generate so much noise. Multiple sounds in both ears and a sort of quick sequence as well. It’s not a tune but it’s a bit like the loud angry wasps! but not exactly. Been walking around in a sort of ‘how can this be real way’. I wonder if I’m alone in thinking this?

If I mention tinnitus to anyone, and I try not to, I can feel their pity and I don’t want to be a victim. Too cold for a walk on the seafront today though.

Yes indeed Nanny. Its like we live in two universes at the same time. But other people only see the "Universe" that we live in with them. You are not alone in thinking that way. I think the same to.

Just the other day I thought "This is the weirdest thing ever".

Im finding it very hard at the moment, but Im trying my best. Its all we can do.

      Cheers.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling up to it @Nanny chocolate and hope the tinnitus calms down for you soon. I know what you mean about the cold. Wanted to go down to the seafront this morning, just a short drive but it's freezing. Went for a brief walk instead glad I'm back at home. There's more cold on the way so keep in if you can.

      All the best

Yes its freezing all over today. As a young man I used to go out in jeans and a shirt in all weathers. Nothing used to bother me. I would freeze to death if I did that now lol.

      Cheers.

Hello everybody, thank you for your replies. I can walk to a lovely beach in 3 or 4 minutes from my home. There is also a beautiful headland with a walk to a small pebbly cove. In the summer it’s packed with people enjoying themselves. Seals come to the cove and there is a pair of beautiful swans sometimes too.
When I rehabituate (I hope) it will seem even lovelier.
Bring your buckets and spades everyone.

In the early days my T used to spike when I was cold. It’s just another form of stress really which ramps up the volume. Same applies though, focus on something else. Walking along a lovely beach is a great way to do it. :)

Yep ,I'm up on a hill looking through my upstairs window and glad I'm inside. I no longer eat my fish & chips on the seafront as the seagulls won't leave me a lone. Give one a chip and in minutes you're surrounded by them, and they will attack you too and I'm not kidding...lol

The seagulls are quite large and they are smart too. My neighbour told me when her children were young, they were down by the seafront eating fish & chips. Her young son was teasing a seagull; offering it a chip and then eating it for himself and laughing. The seagull flew off and went out to sea and turned round, headed back flying at low level and dropped you know what bang smack in the middle of his fish & chips...and that is the truth! lol...

Monkey legs, I saw someone out in shorts!
Bass player, maybe the freezing cold made the T worse, who knows.

I'm sorry you're feeling bad and tinnitus really is such a weird problem that we have, and so hard to explain to others. I see that you've had it since 1995. Has it always been the same or has it worsened? I hope you feel better soon.

Btw, you're in the UK, all of you above. How cold can it be? ;) Greetings from Sweden. :)

Tell me about it, we’re a bunch of softies here. A few snowflakes and everything stops...lol.

Back to my canal boat tomorrow. I expect it will be frozen in, but I am moored right next to a pub. ;-)

Speaking of birds, here’s a question for you all.

Where do all the ducks go when the canal is frozen?

I hope it settles down soon! Mine is like that a lot. Today's a quiet day (thankfully), but I totally understand what you are going through. I like to believe that on loud days the T is playing itself out and that a quieter day will follow.

      Hi Sven and BuzzyBee
I’ve actually had T since 1992! An audiology appt started it would you believe. After being given oxygen treatment in hospital and many months of despair I eventually habituated.
The much worse T is caused by sertraline I believe, nothing else seems to be different. Audiology much the same over 22 years, I have high frequency loss caused by a severe virus a long time ago.
Its been a dark three months, so l just have to wait to see if I can habituate to it again.
Warm wishes to all of you.

Sorry you having a bad day , hope you feel better soon. You mentioned your T started by a Audiology . Is there a test you did that started it? Can you share . Thanks!

      Hi Rajin
It was a routine audiology test to check for hearing loss. I went into the sound proof room without T and came out with it!
Maybe the noise she used was too loud, I really don’t know.
The oxygen treatment then was as if given to bomb blast victims but it didn’t work for me.
I spent a week in hospital which was horrible as my children were still fairly young.
I did habituate eventually though and I really hope I can do so again.

@Nanny chocolate, I have "T" and have relapses. I am in one now. It just happens. I do always habituate it takes time but I get there. In the beginning of my "T" I was in the hospital and the first relapse I went back to the hospital. It has been almost 30 years so now I know the drill. Wait it out. Yes there will be dark days but I get through it. Lets do it together:) Keep me informed how you are doing.

@Ken219 Hi, Ken. What usually causes those relapses? (I'm guessing that's the same as a "spike"?).

@Sven Not sure if it is a spike or it just annoys me more? Whatever it is I hope to habituate. I've had this for almost 30 years. I pray one day there will be a fix(cure). Yes I pray for all of our ills.

I think that's one thing a spike can be... an increase you're unable to tell whether it's actual noise or imagined extra noise.

I hope it returns to the baseline again soon.
