      Hi All,

I had the Stapedectomy surgery 4 weeks back and noticed a big difference in my left ear after the surgery, especially after removing the cotton ball.

But I am noticing changes in my hearing for the last 2 weeks and also continuous ear ringing.

This is disturbing a lot and affecting my regular work.

Would like to know whether it's normal after stapedectomy? Anyone has the same experience?

      Please suggest.

      Regards
      AK

I never heard of a case where improved hearing causes tinnitus.

Did your hearing get better or worse?

Did your tinnitus begin before your Stapedectomy?

It's not "normal", but it can happen. The procedure is a bit traumatic for the cochlea, especially if the surgeon uses a drill (vs laser).

Did you have T before your stapedectomy?
Do you have sensorineural losses post stapedectomy?

It can take a while (6-12 months) post op for the ear to settle.
