      It has been around a year with pulsatile tinnitus.

      Today is my first spike... I didn't know that you could have spikes too
      Today tinnitus noise is continuous... usually it is intermittent
      Also, it caused sleep interruption

      I haven't done anything unusual the day before. I only had blood donation for the first time but I don't think it has anything to do with the spike

      Does it usually settle down?
      I can't imagine living like this forever

      Hi, @Chilly,

      I'm sorry you're having a spike. Do you mean that your pulsatile tinnitus is spiking, or your regular tinnitus?

      I hope it settles down for you soon. I've had my pulsating get a little bit harder, but it always has settled down, so hopefully yours will, too.

      My regular tinnitus has spiked in the past, but it has always settled back down. Usually, if I get a good night's sleep, it settles down to baseline.

      Good luck, and please keep us posted on how you're doing.

      Karen

      @Chilly,

      Has it gotten any better today? I hope it starts to calm back down soon.

      If not, have you been under the care of a doctor, or is there a doctor you could consult? I would wait awhile before doing that, but if it looks like it isn't going to go down any time soon, I'd get it checked out.

      @Karen
      It is better than the day the spike started, but still
      Also I could hear my heartbeat in my left ear.
      Mainly, the right ear is the problem but occasionally I hear my heartbeat in the left one
      I agree.. I'll wait a while before consulting a doctor

      @Chilly,

      I'm glad your spike has improved a bit. But just observe for now, and see if things improve over the next month. If they don't, that's when you should seek out the opinion of a doctor.

      When you do, you might want to try a neurologist or neurotologist. In my experience, regular ENT's don't know a lot about pulsatile tinnitus, and often don't want to take the time to have you tested for your symptoms.

      Good luck, and I hope things continue to improve!
