      Hello everyone !
I don't know if this will be a stupid question or not , but finally I decided to take out my jet ski to the sea tomorrow after a long time cause of T &H and I got my self foam ear plugs but is it safe to swim or get splashed with salt water with foam ear plugs ?
      Thank you.

For water i use wax earplugs, a little less efficient than foam but its's still a protection, and it resist to water.

Is foam still good ? I don't like the wax one ? The thing is I'm worried that it absorbs the water and maybe I will get an ear infection from the water

Hey good for you I hope you have an amazing time! I bet the weathers beautiful in Dubai unlike here it literally poured down with so much rain I had to take out my hearing aids and my hair was soaked!

As for the ear plugs my knowledge is limited but for now I would just go with what feels comfortable and see what happens swimmers ear, or not I guess it would be bad to wear ones you aren't comfortable with, I hope someoen else who knows more comes along to help :) Hope you have a great day!

Well, Foam will absorb water. And i don't know how it will impact the sound protection. But yes i think foam with water will increase the chance of infection.

One day i fell into water with foam earplugs. I had to wait to re use them, they had lost their ability to deform themselves to enter the ear canal when full of water.

Wet foam definitely has different sound dampening properties than dry foam. It's also a good recipe to develop an infection. I strongly recommend against foam earplugs for water sports.

Is it even safe to wear plugs at all in this situation? What if you take a big spill? Water pressure and ear plugs sounds like a bad mix to me. Could you not end up with a plug stuck dangerously deep inside your ear canal?

Not only this, ear plugs won't help you much with wind noise. I would think the wind noise is as loud as the engine noise or close to?

Yeah this is confusing , I don't know anyone who ever wore ear plugs in this situation , I might just go without protection only for an hour I don't think it should be to loud , and it's open air environment , but for the wind noise I never heard it could any damage ?

Yeah it's really confusing. Here is a thread about wind noise:

I think I found the right ear plugs , silicone circle shaped doesn't completely do into the ear canal just like telis said thank you all for the information I'm going in about 2 hours the sea today looks to tempting to avoid I'm sick of sitting at home time to have some fun hopefully everything will be ok , I hope everyone has a good Friday
      Cheers from Dubai !

today was a really good been out for apprx 2 hours with no ear plugs they were really annoying to wear on a jetski so i manned it up and continued wout them t has now spiked just a bit nothing serious i hope it will settle down soon , and one more thing i met up with one of my friends who has T as well from serving our military his dad is an audiologist he told me that any sounds on open air enviroment with sound lower than 100db is generally safe for the ear because sound waves dont bounce back they just go onto open air (thats what i heard from him could be not true) but it sure does make sense and for the wind noise he doesnt have a clue , so yeah today has been really good my H did not affect me at all weirdly but thats good! HERE IS SOME PICTURES

Thanks :) but I must confess T is still the most fuc**ed up condition I've ever had , and i know for a fact i would never have as much fun as i did before worrying about t and h , yesterday was good but my mind was always sometimes on t and i was little worried that i might regret that ive went , but it turned out good , didnt use ear plugs

I completely agree I don't understand what T stands to achieve, especially for you guys I know mine is showing me my inner ear problems but some of your guys hearing is perfectly fine yet have it anyway I just don't get it. I'm glad you had a good time, I like to just let go so I can forget though a few times my hearing has made me pay for it. But still I think we should just live how we want, I don't want to never do what I want because of t.

By the way can ask if foam ear plugs safe to use during water park?

Activities include wave pool, lazy river, water slides.
No diving or submerging of head in water.

Is it safe to use that? Or any better recommendation?

Yeah, though I had an MRI and everything is completely normal there isn't anything that even shows them why I have hearing problems and T, my brain, nerves etc are normal which is weird because I guess they don't have many people with inner ear problems come in there with nothing wrong with their MRI scan. Has your ENT ever suggested one to you?

My MRI lasted about 8 minutes the banging noise is annoying but nothing bad happened, it can get a bit claustrophobic if that sort of thing bothers you though. Do you having hearing problems or just t?
