      Hi everyone - me again.

      This sucks.

Wanna know why my name is optigirl19? It means optimistic girl. I'm usually so optimistic. But right now, I'm scared.

My tinnitus started two weeks ago after a ridiculously loud concert. It progressed from a tone in my left ear to what is now a high pitched hissing in both ears, fullness and a low pitched tone in the background.

I'm still hanging on, barely. I saw the doctor again and she told me it should fade within the next few weeks. I believe her. I've had this before, it was just as bad, but it vanished and stayed away for almost 2 years. Just that it took up to two months.

They say 3 months is the acute stage. I've not even reached a month yet, is there still hope for me?

The last occurance was not sound trauma induced. Or at least, it didn't seem so. This one unfortunately was, and I'm regretting that dreaded concert I went to.

It's so bad today, but the one thing that gives me solace is the fact that I've had multiple periods of near silence today. I hope that is a sign that it is regressing.

I just want relief. I'll happily wait another week or two if that's as long as it takes. But I don't want to put up with this forever. I doubt I will. But the prospect of it terrifies me.

      Thanks for listening.

Please, anyone? It's so much louder today, I don't understand what's going on. It was a lot quieter at onset, now it's so loud that my ears feel full. Will this go away?

Your tinnitus sounds like mine. For me it got worse, just like yours.

Yes, there is hope for you, but protect your ears from now on. No more concerts, clubs, sporting events and such. No earbuds. Wear hearing protection when things get to loud.

Healing of the ears can take forever, and you are still in a very early stage. Well me too, I’m four months in.

@Bill Bauer has some statistics showing that, in most cases, noise induced tinnitus fades considerably or goes away even after months or years. Hopefully yours will resolve in a few days/weeks, but even if it doesn't statistics is on your side in the long run.

Oh thank GOD. For some reason though mine has gotten louder than it was at onset and its really destroying me. I feel like I'm moving in the opposite direction. I hope it fades and completely vanishes in the next few days

Anxiety and worrying too much about it may exacerbate it. Anxiety releases glutamate in your brain and in some people this makes tinnitus worse. Try to calm down, do something relaxing, take a bath, meditate, do progressive muscle relaxation or autogenic training, or yoga if you can. Anything body based that may take the focus off the tinnitus. Easier said than done, I know, but worth a shot. The calmer you are the better.

I certainly am very anxious right now. The past few days have been just so, so rough. I'm trying to relax. Talking to my boyfriend helps.

      I almost missed your post!

I will do everything I can to protect my ears now. How has yours gotten over the course of the four months?

I think it became a little worse yes, but I also noticed some slight fading of some of the sounds, but it’s very slow. I don’t know if I will fully recover. Nobody knows.

I hope your tinnitus will fade and that you will recover!
